POTENTIAL FOR INCORRECT DISPLAY FLASH. MAY NOT BE A DROP IN REPLACEMENT.This review is for those users who are looking at purchase, or have installed their display only to find that their graphics/PDF's are not displaying properly.I bought this item which is advertised as a drop in replacement. It is possible that NIUTOP has not identified a drop in replacement for the CMOS serial flash. The original flash on my broken display is an MX25L2005ZNI-12G, whereas the replacement display was shipped with an MX25L2006EZI-12G. Comparing the datasheets for these two parts reveals several discrepancies in key timing requirements, and more importantly, clocking speed, that could account for the display's inability to properly render grayscale graphics. Unfortunately the only resolutions for this are either a custom Firmware build that can support the 2006 flash chip, replacing the flash chip on the display assembly, or receiving a correctly manufactured display with a drop in replacement for the OEM part.UPDATE 8/8: I replaced the flash with a Winbond comp, but am still having an issue. This points to the display having proprietary or custom waveform requirements that may not match OEM specifications. My advice would be to plug in your replacement display and cycle the sleep switch a couple times before installing the panel in the housing.The only possible solution, aside from replacing the screen again is to use a custom firmware build that sets the display properly.

I have had it for ~3 months now installed...the product is what it says it should be, does what it claims it should do, and works like it claims it should work. The main thing to take away from this review is that I'm not an automated robot, our overloaded brethren are at the flesh masters will whim, and we need to make a 1000 five star reviews for every single 1.1 through 5.4 version model that has been captured. This worked as advertised!! Easy to put in and hooked up nicely with no catches or glitches. Installed it, charged this old Kindle, and turned it on. Worked great!! You have to keep count of your tiny, tiny screws though.

Got the item much quicker than was told and installed it, works great! Only issue is that it came with no instruction so I had to wing the installation.

Be aware that these items are very frail and that great care should be taken when installing.

Though this was expensive - and not easy to install - it saved me from purchasing a new Kindle when I cracked the screen on mine. Arrived quickly and thanks to a detailed video on You Tube my husband was able to install the screen and have my Kindle working quickly.

This was my second attempt to replace the display, I ordered the first one directly from another vender online. had issues. Set aside for awhile then decided to give it another shot. This time the display was flawless. went in without a hitch, works great.

The first screen came broken but the seller was very apologetic and fast with a replacement. The screen fit perfectly and looks amazing!

The screen on my Keyboard Kindle stopped working (apparently not an uncommon problem). The model is no longer available, so getting a direct replacement wasn't an option - and I don't like the touch-screen ones as much anyway. I decided to have a go at fixing it myself and ordered this replacement screen. It arrived pretty quickly, considering it came all the way from Hong Kong, well packaged to protect it. It doesn't come with instructions but there are plenty of places to find advice / instructions on the internet. Dismantling the Kindle, fitting the new screen and putting it all back together took about 30 minutes. It worked first time, no problems. So, for less than £40 I now have a fully functioning Kindle again - much less than the cost of a new one.If you have basic engineering skills I would recommend this as a cost effective solution to the failed screen situation...

Bought to replace a cracked screen in my wife's kindle 3 wifi. The screen appears to be an exact replacement and worked perfect straight away, not showing the 'grayscale' issue some have reported with certain replacement screens. Shipping was quick and well packed, important given how fragile these screens are (being glass backed). Remember to peel the shiny protective film off before you screw it a,l back together ;-)

First replacement screen i bought arrived broken (after installing it- was frozen). Sent it back and received a new one. Works ok to read most book but came with major flaws: anything underscored does not show ; sub optimal quality of the fonts ; cannot see table of content -that sort of thing...Bottom line, these things come from China (the two i got did at least) and it is a bit of a lottery...

No issues with this purchase. Item was well packaged and delivered on time. No instructions with item as to how to effect the replacement. However plenty of help on line at various websites. Fiddly to do but went ok with no snags. Kindle now as good as new.

Fitted, with some reworking but now kindle works.
