Crayola Marker Maker

We bought this for Hannukah this year for our 7 year old daughter. She loves it and it is one of those toys that they can use immediately themselves with minimal adult interference. It is totally intuitive, and great for slightly older kids as well. Her cousins (boys, 9&10) loved it as well and they all played together and got to take a color of their own home with them. Quality is good and helps minimize mess. Good job to the folks in the toy lab at Crayola! From my 7 year old: "It comes with a paper that shows you all the colors and makes it super easy to figure out what colors to make. I love the machine that you make them with. And, of course, you can make all sorts of colors out of it and they are your own colors you get to keep once you make them. I love it".

This has produced countless hours of giggles and excitement as the creativity starts flowing. It's fun to watch the children sit and ponder which colors would mix best to create the perfect marker. The directions are plain and easy to follow allowing children who can read the ability to operate everything with minimal adult supervision. Win-Win! The clean up has been quite easy. The entertainment level has been quite high. Helpful hints - cover your working surface and your clothing in case there are any spills. We haven't had any yet but when dealing with ink it's always smart to be prepared. Would definitely recommend getting the refill pack at the same time. :)

I purchased this for my 6 year old girl for Christmas. We got it out today and made 4 markers. The instructions are comprehensive and walk you through step by step, but at first glance can be a little confusing. Once you get the hang of it though the markers are easy to make. Unfortunately, and the reason I did not give this product 5 stars, was because my daughter cannot use this on her own. The dye bottles are too hard too squeeze and the marker itself can be tricky to assemble. Another reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because all the pieces do not fit in the carrier. The carrier is adorable and has nice spots for everything, but you would probably need to make 8 markers before everything fit in the case. The amount of supplies are great, but I do wish that they all fit in the carrier. Bottom line... I spent about $15 on this and it was worth it.

I bought one for each of my girls and they really enjoy it BUT don't expect a lot. They made the 16 markers quickly then it is useless unless you pay $10 for refills to make more markers. A novelty item that will be forgotten a week after being given but is really fun and works well. Get it cheap and make your kids smile for a short period of time.

When my son (age 6) requested this for Christmas, I was hesitant, given our bad experience with a "Crayon Maker" (dangerous, messy, and ridiculous). But the marker maker is completely different. It has just enough mixology and tools to make it feel sciencey and creative, and my son can do it all by himself, and it's very cleverly designed. They thought of everything for this kit: colors, and a mix chart, and very well constructed barrels, and a little lever to allow small kids to easily snap them shut, and labels and even a box that you can color yourself to place your markers. My son is enchanted, and we think it's pretty cool too. We bought a refill set by day 2, knowing he will use it. And I like that it's self contained, uses washable ink, and even has a platform to hold the mixing beaker so it doesn't spill. This is a really fun toy. Also, the price on this fluctuated wildly in the month before Christmas, so watch the price. (It ranged by about $20 and I got it at the low end by just watching for several weeks).

My 7yr daughter saw this on u-tube and received as a gift for her birthday. She LOVED it!! I would recommend the refill as well. She rec'd one and went thru this pack and the refill in two days. The kit is really awesome and quite genius. Basically Crayola found a way to market their supplies in a box for markers and sell them for the kids to make at probably triple the cost of what they actually cost to make. Of course, we buy them for our lovely children and they just love to make them! I do have to warn you, since making these lovely awesome custom markers (insanely easy too!) they have sat in the custom box that comes with it that you also put together and have barely been used but once. I do recommend the kit, most of these gadget kits do not work- unlike them--this one does, but if the markers actually get used?? Up to you and your kids!! LOL

This Christmas gift was a huge hit for my daughters. They each received their own kit and refill pack, and they've had a blast. The process is virtually mess-free, though we place a trash bag underneath to protect against any accidental spills. The instructions are clear and detailed, and will walk you through assembly of each marker. Three bottles of ink -red, blue, and yellow- are included and are used to blend into your chosen color. You choose the color you want to create from the provided color chart. If, for example, you choose a particular shade of purple, the color chart may instruct you to fill the provided test tube up to line 12 with the blue ink, then continue and fill up to line 15 with the red ink. Once this is done, you'll follow directions to put your new marker together in a very easy process. My daughters only needed me to walk them through the process once and they were able to make markers unsupervised. Marker pack boxes are provided so you can store your newly created markers, and you can even make your boxes unique by coloring them with your newly made markers. Marker label stickers are also included. My girls have fun coming up with unique names for their new colors. This kit comes with enough supplies to make 16 markers. We purchased a refill kit extra play. I hope Crayola will soon introduce refill kits with expanded color charts that will allow for more color choices. Pastel or neon colors would be great! I definitely recommend this for kids who love to draw or color.

It is a really cool marker kit and it is easy to make markers but your supply's run out fast. I was done with half the kit in 20min.You can buy refills but I think the marker should come with at least 2 refills on the ink and the marker maker only comes with 16 markers to make.( that's not a lot in my opinion).Other than that I thought this was a very cool kit to use and it very easy to clean. This kit comes with a variety of colors to chose from and create, but you can also make your own. My favorite part about this is that instead of buying plain old markers at the store you get to create your own and see how the process of making markers works! Another good thing about this kit is that if you get the ink on your cloths it washes out easy(I have learned from experience:) ). This was a great gift and one of the best I got this year, Thank you.

Ich habe das Filstift-Designer Set gekauft, weil mein Sohn (5) so gerne malt und auch mit seinen normalen Filz- und Buntstiften gerne die Farben mischt, um zu sehen wie sich die Farben verändern. Das Set ust toll aufgebaut und beinhaltet eine genaue Beschreibung und auch ein Farbkarte nach der man sich Farben mischen kann. Die ersten 8 Stifte haben wir nach der Farbkarte gemischt, ging super einfach und hat zu meinem Erstaunen nicht einmal auch nur annähernd zu einer Sauerei geführt, die Farben aus den Flaschen lassen sich gut dosieren und die Behälter zum Mischen der Farben halten gut in der Verankerung. Die zweite Runde Stifte wollte mein Sohn komplett ohne Farbkarte kreieren und er hatte sichtlich Spaß dabei zu warten bis die Stifte malbereit waren und er testen konnte welche Farbe er denn nun gemischt hat. Wir würden uns einen Nachfüllpack wünschen, denn es bleibt noch Farbe übrig und auch die Box zum Herstellen der Stifte steht ansonsten nur ungenutzt rum. Wäre auch eine tolle Idee für Kindergärten oder Kindergeburtstage, denn ich bin mir sicher jedes Kind ist stolz wenn es eine "eigene" Farbe kreieren kann.

Ma fille adore créer toute sorte de chose et surtout les feutres Un peu sous forme de chimiste c est sympa l enfant suit des étapes une à une et apprend aussi à créer ses couleurs à l aide des couleurs primaires (très instructif) et ensuite le résultat est top Donc on racheté cette boîte pour une copine (4 ème boîte en un an!!!)

Pensé que sería una tontería mas que acabaría en el armario, pero la verdad que ya me esta pidiendo recambios porque le encanta fabricar sus propios rotus y regalarselos a los amigos y familiares. Es entretenido y fácil, y no manchan nada ;)

When I say 'I love it', I mean 'I love it because it kept the kids occupied for a morning'. This is basically a kit that allows you to make your own marker pens. It came with English instructions and also a colour chart telling you the quantities of primary colour ink you need to mix to obtain certain colours. This is done by using two measuring cylinders that conveniently stand up inside part of the lid (And form a tray for collecting mess!). Once this has been done, use the supplied tweezers to put the 'core' into the ink and wait for it to absorb it. Once this has done, the pen is stood up inside the plastic base and a handle used to pop the nib and lid on. And then you have labels you can use to complete the job. The result is a proper marker pen that worked fine. I must admit I dreaded the kids using this, but surprisingly they understood what to do by reading the instructions and managed to get a set of 8 pens created of different colour without much mess. I'm not sure how much replacement inks will be, but initial thoughts are that this is a good toy for the kids and they can use the results to draw them own pictures, which seemed to give them a lot of satisfaction!
