Tamiya Models Nakajima Ki-84 IA Type 4 Hayate Model Kit

Excellent engineered kit. Molding is excellent so not much sanding required. Great kit for the money. Bonus pilot figure!

The part fit was very good. No blending needed. The finished model came out beautiful. I does have some pretty small detail parts that I had to position with tweezers. But that is to be expected with a 1/48 scale model. Over all a very nice model.

This is an old kit, and it shows. It's still a good kit that can turn out nice, but there are two areas that I found disappointing when compared to most other Tamiya kits. The first is that many of the panel lines are raised vs inscribed, making it necessary to use a small, flexible metal ruler and scribing tool to correct. The other issue is the awful cockpit. While there is a little bit of detail on the port and starboard bulkheads, the rest of the cockpit features are blocky and without even a minimum of detail. There isn't even a basic instrument panel, just plain, flat walls tucked underneath the dashboard that you're supposed to apply a decal to (after cutting it in half) before gluing the fuselage halves together. When you compare that to the more recent Ki-61 Hien kit that Tamiya produces (with it's excellent cockpit features), it becomes obvious that this is a very old kit that seriously needs to be updated to current Tamiya standards. Otherwise, it's an easy build, with parts that fit well, and offers decals for several different schemes. If you're looking for something quick and easy, this is a good choice. If you're looking for something detailed and challenging, you might want to try elsewhere.

This is a good project for beginners for skill building before tackling more expensive kits. Parts fitting is above average, and detailing is good. Seams ghost out well with proper alignment, and minimal filling and sanding is needed. Kit is typical of Tamiya's high quality standards. The instruction manual could use some improvement though.

Normal Tamiya model quality which is without a doubt, good. Tamiya and Hasegawa are by far the best kits in my opinion, with them being par to each other. Have never had an issue with any Tamiya model I've purchased.

Nice kit. Has decal markings for 4 different airplanes. Is a nice simple kit, should be a problem free build.
