Cheaply made. Defective, right “out of the box.”Ordered this multi-purpose (HDMI, VGA, and DVI) adapter and another, HDMI only.HDMI only (“Benfei” brand) adapter works as expected. Well-made. Solid.This item? Feels cheap. Lightweight. Three times the bulk of HDMI-only unit but weighs the same.Stay away from this cheaply made, poor quality unit.

I have an old mid 2012 macbook pro. I have only used the HDMI part on a projector and a flat screen tv. Works great on both devices. I am also dual booting windows 10 and it works great there also.

I give presentations on a Macbook Air in various different environments - usually hotels and training centres.I originally bought - at quite significant expense - an adaptor for VGA and a second one for HDMI when I needed a solution in a hurry. Total cost for both in an Apple authorised retail store was over €90.When one of these expensive adaptors was damaged I started doing some research online for other options and decided to give this one a go.It's been working perfectly since I got it. I've only used it about 7 or 8 times, but always in different environments, from VGA with an old projector running 1024x768, up to a 1080P HD TV over HDMI - in fact I think the sound worked over the HDMI also. I have not used the 3rd port yet.Bonus for removing the need to carry two different dongles around, one less thing to lose.I recommend giving it a go.

I wanted to add another monitor to a single-HDMI port device, and/but had Thunderbolt port available. This device permitted me to mix-and-match to get both monitors plugged in using HDMI for each.I'm not sure, and don't really care right now since it's working, but think that this adapter may not pass audio through the HDMI port. I had my speakers operating off of my existing monitor speaker port, and they were fine. I added the new monitor and this adapter, and possibly plugged my existing monitor into the HDMI cable running off this adapter - and lost my speaker feed. I moved the speaker feed to the other, new monitor that may well be connected to the 'direct-from-the-computer' HDMI cable and the speakers work again.But the device does what I need. I now have two great screens to work with off of a single-HDMI port desktop.

I'm using this adapter to connect my MacBook air to a 21" display. I purchased it because it offers all three connections in one piece. I intend to possibly use it's HDMI to connect the MacBook to a TV. If it works as well as the display connector does, I'm going to be very happy. Inexpensive, too!

Awesome and easy to use. I had to order this for a customer presentation because I wanted to have both the hdmi and the VGA port as a back up instead of carrying multiple connectors. I set this up for my presentation and the customer was so impressed they went right to Amazon while I was there and purchased on for their needs!

This thing works great! The build quality is.... let's say fragile? Thin plastic, but for the price you can buy 5 of them and you're set. I got it for HDMI and I've had nothing but problems with every other HDMI adapter I've ever gotten for my MacBook pro. This one did the trick.

I use a Macbook since 2012 and I do have an adapter I've bought years ago. This one started to have problems, and I decided to buy a new one. And I bought this from Amazon. Received it just as expected. But when I connected it to my Mac and to the monitor, ir did not work. No signal on DVI or HDMI ports. Actually I'm pretty sure the problem was in the Thunderbolt port, since the computer did not recognize it was connected.Returned it to Amazon and received a new unit. Connected it to my Mac and to my monitor. Worked fine. For less than 30 seconds!Returned it to Amazon for a full refund.Will try a different brand. Maybe spend more money and buy it from Apple...
