i bought this for work and was only able to use it a few times before the plastic cap on the back broke into multiple pieces rendering it useless....expected more from fowler.

I have used manual micrometers extensively and am used to their feel. This unit has a different feel to it in that the thimble is plastic and it's diameter is rather large. Also, the large part of the thimble ratchets, not the smaller top piece which is backwards from traditional mics. I'm keeping them. They work well. But I will likely get another set more to my liking.

Phenomenal product with accuracy out to five digits. Unheard of at this price.

Not the one I want, and this one I bought broken within one month

A very accurate micrometer for the price, but not terribly durable. I wouldn't buy this one if you drop your mics on the floor often. A good price, but old stock; mine was delivered with a good bit of warehouse dust on the box, a cracked plastic case, and a stone-dead battery on arrival. Probably had been sitting in a warehouse for years before they sent it to me. Also, packaging was minimal, so maybe the case was cracked by USPS.

Finally got a good quality measuring device !
