Like all such drives for recent computers and size constraints, this tool, while very effective for its use, take great care to not damage it when inserting, removing a CD/DVD and then closing the drive tray

I got it for M-disc's but it didn't even work on DVD's or CD's. multiple software's detect no media, they do say it can write to DVD and CD just not BD-R/RE. if you need an M-disc burner don't get this the $50 to $60 for a real blue ray or BD-R/RE drive I think is fine for archival purpose's. I just thought I would test my luck. learn from me and the other bad review's and dont test your luck. I got what I paid for

The DVD drive arrived quickly, I installed it and it works perfectly. I was tempted to give a 4 Star rating, because the packaging could have been better to protect the DVD drive from possible damage as there was no padding in the box and there was an inch and a quarter of empty space along the entire width of the drive, so it just banged around in the box. More or less on the plus side the drive came with 3 mounting screws on it, and there was a SATA cable included, but... the SATA cable is very short (7.25 inches). Thank goodness the DVD RW drive I was replacing is also SATA so I had a long enough cable for connection.

I bought two of them, but only one of them worked. I'll try to repair the bad one, and if I can't repair it, I'll order another one and throw the bad one away. The bad one looked like it was used and came with one (of four) mounting screws. I think the problem is with the data port. The power port is OK.

I thought it was a full size drive tbh.. my shock when I got a laptop drive. 😭. That's my mistake but still a good little drive for money.

Ok, for the price I really didn't expect much. What I received was a used HP drive in a plain box with only a SATA cable being included extra. I actually put this in an enclosure that had a failing drive and it worked flawlessly right off the bat. You can't find a used drive anywhere this cheap and have it delivered this quickly. Great job seller. Just remember, it is going to be a used (refurb?) drive and probably just the drive. No extras, no instructions, just the bare bones. And for the price you can't beat it. How long will it last? Who knows, I have had so few optical drives flat out fail that it may last for years.

I like it a lot, for personal home use

Tristemente es producto renewed (usado), y en mi experiencia de 16 años trabajando con grabadores de disco comprar usados es una mala idea, ya que el laser tiene un tiempo de vida util y cuando este se llega a su final el grabador da uno y mil poblemas. El detalle es que en la publicacion no se menciona que sea renewed, en caso contrario no las hubiera comprado. Ambas quemadoras dieron distintas fallas, mala grabacion a 6x y 8x, tiran error de grabacion al 98%, una de ellas da donut ring y la otra hasta raya los discos pues les hace una marca profunda en la superficie. Es la segunda vez que me sucede esto en amazon, y la primera me dieron fallas muy similares provenientes de un proveedor oriental. Que decepcion.

Instale el lector en mi PC pero no lee ni CD ni DVD. Lo probé con otra PC sin éxito.
