Mestemacher Pumpernickel Bread, 17.6 Oz – Authentic German Whole Rye Pumpernickel Bread, Dense European Bread, High Fiber, Non-GMO, Ready to Eat, Long Shelf Life (Pack of 3)

This is VERY different from ordinary bread, even from ordinary (American) pumpernickel. It's extremely dense and sliced very thin. The flavor is strong but wonderful. The physical strength of the bread isn't super high, so sandwiches aren't going to work. Likewise, only very soft things will spread. Cold butter will destroy it. But, the flavor is great, and it lasts forever. It's great as a backup meal for the cupboard and as a nice treat. If you've never tried it, I highly recommend giving it a shot, assuming you like rye breads. If you don't like rye, you probably won't like this, but if you do, you'll love it.

I thought I was seeing and eating pumpernickel bread from 1981 until 2026 and it turned out to be a lie. It wasn't until I had this bread that I realize I was eating an imposter. This bread is heavy, filling, delicious, chewy, and heavenly for an egg sandwich. I crave it and so I'm buying it again.

Very unpalatable grainy dark brown bread with lots of seeds. This was not anything that I believe was fit for human consumption. It tasted more like something that would be fed to animals such as birds, cows, horses, pigs, goats or cats and dogs. It tasted the way dry domestic animal food smells. I very rarely if ever have run across a product like this; there was nothing redeeming about it as human food. I had to throw it away. I believe ti should not be sold as people food.

This "bread" is heavy, dark, and "seedy". It is sliced so thin I don't think you could make a sandwich with it. But you can toast it, and slather it with butter, and is yummy. Extremely unusual texture, and flavor. One persons review said it was not fit for human consumption..........I laugh when i eat it thinking about the review. In summary, I would call lit weird and wonderful---if you have a pallet with a strong sense of adventure.

The package arrived timely and in great shape. The German rye bread was just what I wanted excellent.

Very tasty, we are enjoying this bread especially when toasted. The only comment I have is that they sliced the bread too thin. The slices tend to fall apart.

Russian "Borodinsky" bread is more sweet, but this is a close substitute. Clean ingredients, no preservatives but, surprisingly, it remains fresh. It is very filling - a small thin slice will satiate. This bread with a slice of Italian Lardo...food of gods.
