Incredibly versatile and handy
I recently gifted the Myerchin Sailors Tool Linerlock in red to a friend who just completed an amazing sailing trip from the Panama Canal to Florida, and he absolutely loved it! He found the tool to be incredibly versatile and handy throughout his journey. During the trip, he used it multiple times for various tasks, from adjusting rigging to opening stubborn packages. The linerlock mechanism is solid and ensures safety while in use, which is essential on a boat. He also appreciated the ergonomic design, making it comfortable to hold even during prolonged use. The bright red color makes it easy to spot in a busy toolbox, and the overall quality is impressive. My friend said it quickly became one of his go-to tools while sailing. I’m really glad I chose this as a gift—it was a perfect addition to his sailing gear! Highly recommend it for any sailor or outdoor enthusiast!

Great attention to detail in both the design and the manufacturing of this tool. It is well machined and has no perceivable burs etc. The marlin spike has a great point, but is not sharp and will not damage todays covered lines. The blade is small, but just as much as you will need on the deck of just about any boat. The pliers, in-lieu of a "shackle key", provide a little more functionality. I would have Myerchin consider adding an elongated hole (shackle key) in the blade (or the body) similar to what they have done with the Gen2 "Captain" and "Crew" series.

Good Tool
This is a sturdy knife with liner locks on the blade and the spike. Fits easily in hand. Like the fact that the spike locks. Spike is sharp enough to dig into tight knots spike is curved making it easy to handle. Has a pouch but there is a clip on the knife, too.

Larger than I expected
It’s just a little too large, both thick and length, to feel comfortable in a grip. But it’s a decent knife and the spike is handy. I’m not actually a sailor, so I don’t need the top of the line tool for most chores

Broken
The knife broke so that it couldn't be closed as soon as I took it out of the package and opened it. Huge waste of time and money. Hassle to return. Had to tape cardboard around it for safety just to throw it away.

This tool isn't perfect, but it's good enough that i've bought several over many years. It's great value for the price. Rugged and long lasting, it has one of the best marlin spikes i've ever used - its best feature. The blade is not very long, but holds its edge well. Eventually, i grind the serrations off, as i prefer a straight blade in general. The pliers are ok for small shackles (but i use the spike, if the pin has a hole), and small hex nuts, but not much else, and it's easy to pinch yourself, as they don't grip well, and the spike is the lever, but closed, it's excellent for popping off a bottle cap. I like and use the pocket clip.
