The strongest reason to choose Motul 7100 is that its specifications are clearly matched to modern four-stroke motorcycles. This version is SAE 10W-40, fully synthetic with an ester-based formulation, and meets JASO MA2 and API SN standards. JASO MA2 is particularly important for motorcycles that share oil between the engine, gearbox, and wet clutch, since ordinary automotive oil may not be appropriate for that system. The four-liter jug is also a practical quantity for many motorcycle oil changes and is easier to manage than buying several small bottles. Motul lists this oil for road, touring, cruiser, sport, off-road, ATV, and other four-stroke applications, including engines with catalytic converters. Still, viscosity and required standards should come from the owner’s manual, not from a general compatibility list.
