Got a hammer? Good to go
Beats going to the store and buying so much wood you have more than half left over. Got on sale. Everything installed nicely. Helps to sand down before install. Be patient with the hammer when getting the post installed and all set.

Did it job for now
The wood pole came with an incipient crack so I put 5 long screws to enforce it and prevent it to crack more during installation. The wood is pretty soft and I could put the screws with a hand screwdriver. The soil where I installed it was pretty soft, I pushed the first couple of inches of the metal part by hand then I continued with a hammer and ended with a sledgehammer. The most difficult thing was to keep it vertical. For the wood part I used a rubber hammer to avoid cracking. Looks like it will last for a couple of years but definitely this is just a temporary solution.

Wobbly
It is wobbly even with Quikrete placed in the hole, if it doesn't last I will replace the stake and post with an eight ft 4x4 instead.

Not a true 4x4 post and a little short for our application.
Used Gibraltar Mailboxes 4x4 Anchor Post Kit , APK00000 to mount a mail box over. The post had two rounded sides, was not true 4x4 but because the mail box bolts to the post, was not a major factor, however, the top bolt could not be used as it was 4" too short. The gauge of the angle iron used to anchor the post seemed a little light for the job, especially as the portion that goes into the 4x4 is ground down to fit into the wood. I would suggest driving the metal into the post first, rather than following the instructions and driving the metal into the ground then trying to drive the post onto the anchor. It is a tight fit and unless something prevented the anchor from going deeper, I suspect you would only succeed in driving the ancor deeper without seating it into the wood. Using the wood post to drive the metal anchor also allows you to use a post level to straighten things up. Use a block of wood and a BAH (Big hammer) to seat the post on the anchor and then to drive the whole works into the ground. Good luck.

Good Simple Idea - Rotten wood
Simple and effective mounting post solution. The included 4x4 piece of wood was rotten in one corner. I took off three stars for the rotten wood. Otherwise a simple and effective product. The hole for the post was drilled in the rotten end. The other end was fine. I put the “L” shaped end of the stake so that it did not put pressure on the rotten part. Come on folks, how about a little bit of quality control?

Easy to Install! Sturdy!
I'd VERY MUCH recommend this item to anyone looking for an easy way to install a mailbox post!!I needed to install a new mailbox, and wanted an easy way to get a post into the ground. I don't know anything about mail boxes, installing them or all that jazz but a lot of people and websites had mentioned they had to pour concrete to erect their post securely, and I was not thrilled at the thought of that. So, when I was buying my Mailbox on Amazon, it showed this post kit as an option. I'm SO glad I bought it.I don't have much upper body strength, and I'm only 5ft 2in tall, with little home maintenance experience I was hoping this would be an easier way to install a mail post, and it did not disappoint! It was SUPER easy to install. All I had to do was hammer (it said use a sledgehammer, but I don't own one) the black post into the ground, which took about 2 minutes. Then the wooden post already has a hole in it, and you just hammer that over the black metal post. The whole installation took at most, 15 minutes! Once it was in the ground it was SUPER sturdy, and that's even in our sandy Florida soil! The ONLY reason I am not giving this item 5 stars was my wooden post must have been derived from a piece of wood that had a natural knot that when cut, left a divet in the wood It made it a bit more difficult to secure the mailbox to all sides of this post (my mailbox slips over this post fully), because that area was recessed, so the screws just barely were long enough to reach.

Muy caro para lo que es!
Mmm compra un pedazo de madera y el herrero te puede hacer la otra parte. Estaría lista mas rápido y mucho mas barato!
