The accuracy of this finder is amazing. I needed to locate a stud behind a gypsum wallboard faced with ceramic tile. The stud had to be precisely located to securely screw in a safety grab bar in our bathroom. Merely slide the detector along the surface until the signal strength indicator is maxed and the center crosshairs illuminate. That's the centerline of the stud plus or minus 1/2 inch. The composition of the wall or floor material can be selected on the finder if known. Choices are wallboard, concrete or universal. Finder works very well at the universal setting. There is an audio tone to assist the visual indication. By default it's "on". Technology of the device is based on a radar detector rather than inexpensive magnetic or capacitance devices. Main benefit of the dtud finder is the confidence in accurate results it gives to the user. Bosch also makes professional use versions of the finder at very much higher cost. Manufacturer claims the device can locate hollow pipes and electrical conductors but I did try these uses.

Funciona muy bien Detecta bien las tuberias Lo unico que no me gusta, es que no diferencia que material esta detectando La alarma es la misma si es un tubo de agua, si es na varilla o si es tuberia de luz. Fuera se eso, detecto todo muy bien.

This is a tool to have for me, in my opinion. My opinion means nothing, but it works for me. Will this be a great tool for you? It depends. If you need to locate just studs in a wall some DIY stuff…then there are more affordable options. If you are like me…installing car chargers and drilling through brick and concrete walls…this might give you a fighting chance along with having experience in the trades or engineering. For me, I couldn’t care about if an object in a wall is electrical (live/dead), gas, or plumbing. I just don’t want to hit it. I know studs are 16” or 24” on center roughly. I know gas, plumbing, electric usually ain’t uniformed in a wall. For me, I just want to hit a stud on a wall to mount something or drill through a cement/brick/drywall and not hit anything. I need a tool that will sound off about anything suspect in a wall. That’s it period. This is the best tool for that. 4” deep scan read on brick or cement wall is wicked good. There are $1k plus scanners that give percentage rates of failure but still no definitive yes or no’s.
