This book is a great step by step, well illustrated, how to. With easily found/collected "stuff", and a little bit of purchased items, you can have a cool looking, nice sounding, fun to play, guitar. But, go to Shane's website too. Lots of info and great ideas and products.

Fret instructions are a little confusing to me. Probably just me. I am using this book to build another CBG. Very detailed instructions and a lot of additional information. Thanks

For anyone interested in CBG this is a decent book. It goes over building a basic slide CBG and the rest is just about other instruments Shane Speal has collected. I wish I had of got the hard copy instead of the kindle version.

Whether you are thinking of a cigar box guitar or, have built one like myself, this is a must read. Informative, entertaining, and well illustrated. This book is a gem well worth the price.

At first I was disappointed as I was hoping for more “How To’s” & saw it was more like a “collection of cool weird instruments” - BUT I quickly got drawn into all the creativity and it ended up inspiring me for some of my guitar builds. Great if you want to see “out of the box” design & aren’t expecting a bunch of manuals, & and aren’t looking for how to become a master luthier. It’s bursting with fun, creative instruments

Great book with some great knowledge and insight to building make shift guitars. Well presented and easy to follow. This is too cool

J'attendais ce bouquin avec impatience, mais je suis vraiment déçu. C'est plus un catalogue de réalisation, qu'une vraie source d'infos pour la réalisation de sa propre CBG. Il y a bien quelques exemples, mais c'est léger. J'ai également "Handmade Music Factory: The Ultimate Guide to Making Foot-Stompin'-Good " qui est bien utile.

Shane gives you the history of the Cigar Box Guitar, great pictures and easy to follow step -by -step instructions. The book is easy to read and is full of great ideas for the DYIer that wants to try and build a handmade instrument. I highly recommend !!! Thanks Shane, I have 6 beer can microphones on the go right now !!
