This really IS the best!
I found the CTK P3 Ultimate Shooting Rest as a result of extensive research for a good gun vise. I wasn't originally looking for a shooting rest. During my research, I think that I looked at every gun vise/shooting rest that is available, and read many reviews for all of the various products. Some of them were light gauge steel, many were plastic. They were either built flimsy, flexed too much, came apart from routine use, had insufficient protection for gun finishes, pads fell off, would not accommodate certain action types or magazine sizes, had no way of being leveled and/or insufficient adjustment, and on and on. As my research progressed, I began thinking that it might be nice to have something that would serve as both a shooting rest AND a gun vise. Only a couple of the products that I had found were capable of doing this sort of double duty, and they were either unsatisfactory for one of the reasons mentioned previously or prohibitively expensive, or both. It was pretty discouraging. Then I stumbled across the CTK P3 product. The price was higher than the meager budget that I had allowed, but I could buy it configured either as a gun vise or a shooting rest, and get the kit to convert it to the other application for under $50. By doing a little searching on line, I found that I could have both capabilities for around $160 total, including shipping costs. I read dozens of reviews by both professionals and just average people like myself, and they were all very positive. I am building a new AR-15, and have only used the P3 as a gun vise so far, but I love it, and have complete confidence that I am going to love it just as much as a shooting rest. It was simple to assemble, and is constructed of heavy gauge steel which will last a lifetime. The surfaces that contact the gun are padded with quality high density foam covered with high quality, non-marring, dense, short knapped, clipped pile automotive carpeting. It is fully and easily adjustable in any way that you can imagine, and will accommodate my BLR and the magazines from my AR-15. It will even work with handguns! There are rubber caps on the bottoms of all of the adjustment feet, to prevent slipping and marring. Since there are only three legs it is very simple to level, and can be easily locked in place. The only thing that I have added, which would improve this product, is a bullseye level to assist with leveling. Other than that, I feel confident that I have found the most perfect shooting rest/gun vise that is offered by anyone, at any price, and would very highly recommend this to anyone seeking such a product.

Exceptionally Robust and Made in the U.S.A.!
Just finished assembling this CTK Shooting Rest; took about an hour, but I took my time. Included assembly instructions straight forward and relatively easy to follow (think there is also an assembly video on line). Construction is quite sturdy and basic, with everything U.S.-made - a selling point for me. Maybe not as "pretty" as some comparatively priced competitors - no plastic parts trays, rest padding is "basic", etc., but the functionality is there and it's not "Made in China." The vise attachment (sold separately) was also a selling point as it adds to the versatility of the shooting rest - you don't need a separate, stand-alone weapons vise unless you're a gunsmith or would use a vise considerably more than a shooting rest; with the vise attachment, the CTK rest does both. I did add a stick-on teflon stop to the bottom of the hinged rear rest where it contacts the vertical adjustment screw (see photos); this will protect the finish from wear, and there's no "give" to the stop to affect a weapon's long axis when placed in the rest. Although I have yet to actually use it, I am totally satisfied with its construction and functionality and highly recommend purchase of the separate vise.

Well made in USA
Not cheap, but about the only thing you could complain about is the assembly. Not hard, more parts and pieces than you might guess from looking at the pictures. Very sturdy and I really don't see a need for the pistol post unless you're shooting something with a very short barrel. Five stars. Updating this after getting both the vise and pistol post. Even better than I thought. Strapped the pistol post to the frame with some reusable zip ties to keep it handy and added a bubble level to the other side of the frame. Vise works for just about anything. Two thumbs up. OK, second edit after 4 months of using it. If there is one negative, it's the rear stock support. It's adjusted through turning a wheel like the 3 base feet, that locks onto a threaded post by means of a threaded female coupling. That raises or lowers the support that is hinged at the rear. This hinge is the issue. It has so much "slop" that even after you lock in the height adjustment it allows quite a bit of movement. The tolerances for the hinge itself should be tightened up. My .02.

This shooting rest is excellent! Very well constructed
This shooting rest is excellent! Very well constructed, sturdy, and easy to assemble. I honestly can't think of any "con" about this product as it has exceeded my expectations in reliability and strength. Paint job perfect, necessary adjustment areas spot on, quality materials used. I highly recommend the P3 Ultimate Shooting Rest by CTK Precision. I also purchased the vise as well which IMHO is a necessity if you enjoy cleaning and working on your rifles and even handguns. I'm relieved to find such a quality product. If you are in the market for a shooting rest/gun vise get the real deal such as this versus a cheaper plastic one.

With this price the manufacturer could put a levelling bulb on the rest so you could easily adjust the level of your rest
Rifle slip and slide on this rest.I would look at other rifle rest that are about the same price or even less expensive. The front rest could be mounted on a spring or a gear so every time you try to adjust the height of front rest it would not maintain it,s current height but drop rapidly to the lowest position. With this price the manufacturer could put a levelling bulb on the rest so you could easily adjust the level of your rest. All that said it is still a sturdy rest.

USA Made, Top Quality
Great product and USA made, THANK You! Everything was in the package, No missing parts. One of the reviews I read mentioned how the hard nut under the butt rest was damaging the finish on the underside of it. I added a rubber cap to eliminate the damage, (Note 2nd photo) Overall, pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Decent product, American made
Overall a good product. I've had it for several months and used it many times. I prefer to buy American, and this is better than the imports I'm familiar with. It's a solid steel square tubing frame with steel bolts going through threaded plastic parts (metal would be better but I haven't had any problems), and the end caps for the tubes are plastic, which are holding up fine. One of the plastic threaded parts was missing on arrival, but CTK immediately sent me another one out at no charge. The carpet on the buttpad was a bit crooked and unevenly cut, which was poor quality control. The glue on the padding under the carpet is not great, so it worked itself loose after some use. I trimmed it and re-glued it, and no problems since. Same with the Y front carpet. There's no rear strap or backstop for recoil, but the upside to that is you can get a good shoulder purchase on your rifle, which I like. I just want something hold it still while I zero, and this works better for me and is more convenient than a front bipod and rear bag or plain sandbags. I would like to see a square flat front rest with a bag that adjusts to width made available as an option. The Y is versatile and accommodates all my rifles from traditional stocks to big quad rail assault rifles, and also works well as a pistol and revolver rest. Instructions consist of only a parts diagram, which I was able to decipher pretty easily. It's a good rest but I was expecting perfect fit/finish/quality from the reviews. I subtracted one star for the QC issues of the missing part and carpet cut/glue. Even though I have nit-picked over some suggestions for CTK, it is a very good rest for the price. It's better than anything in this price range and even competing products costing up to twice as much, which are all made in communist China. If you're like me and don't have a grand or more to spend on a really high end American rest, buy this one, it's the best you'll get for the money and is overall a solid American product.
