We wanted a smaller fire pit and this one at 22" is small enough to not take up a lot of space, and still make for a nice fire. We also required a screen so that when we were down to just a dying fire we could safely cover it and leave it. Putting it together is a matter of attaching the base using three nuts/bolts and the one nut on the ring used to lift the screen. Speaking of the base it is of nice heavier cast material that assures that this fire pit won't be tipping over. We filled the bottom with play sand placed the grate ready for a nice Fall fire. One thing that we knew that we had to do was keep the rain out so, we searched for a sturdy cover that was easy to slip over the pit and was the proper size. Problem is this is a smaller fire pit and the covers were for larger 30" or so pits. Then we found the Char Broil Big Easy cover http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0038MVPA6?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00 which is 23" and designed for their Patio Grill. At under $15 on Amazon. It fits perfectly, you might take a look at it if you acquire this grill.

I received my DeckMate firepit which was very easy to assemble. No problem there. I was so anxiously awaiting delivery of this. After putting it together I lit my fire. To get a good fire going, I had to take the grate out....maybe because my wood pieces were just a little too long for the firepit. I put the mesh cover on but this is where the "not perfect" status comes in. The cover does not fit the bowl. It is too wide. I thought about sending it back, but since I had a fire already in the bowl as well as probably having to pay shipping charges to send back, I decided to keep it. I like the style and design but wish it was a little bigger. Hopefully, I will be able to have many fires in it. I will have to cut all my wood down a bit, though.

Good price, holds lots of wood and makes a good fire. HOWEVER, if you have this on concrete it will leave a huge rust ring on your patio.

Base was cracked, lid did not fit.Would not recommend this item to others unless you can physically see the quality of the product

This firepit is sturdy and looks alright, but it isn't shaped right to maintain any kind of flame. Unless you're using firelogs, this won't work for burning wood.

Perfect fit for my small yard. Well built, sturdy, creates a great ambiance when i want to sit outside and enjoy a nice fire! Great for marshmallow roasting, or just warming my toes. It's truly exactly what I was looking for.

Small and big enough to do the job. You need to cut the logs into foot size logs but it handles the heat perfectly. Since its small you can't make a really big fire that gets too hot so its good enough to put under the patio. Also its safer with kids around it roasting marshmallows. The only thing I didn't like its that the cover is a little bent and doesn't sit right on the actual bowl. That had to do with the shipping other than that its really nice.

We were please with this compact, inexpensive fire bowl. Very classy look and accommodates a nice fire. Our young adult grandchildren promptly "broke it in" at a birthday gathering and loved it! Thank you to reviewers who alerted us to the rust problem. It is easy to move and we brought it under cover on our patio after use. It looks very decorative stored there and is weathering the rainy days just fine.
