Update: I’m changing my review from 3 star to 4 star because even though it’s big and ugly, it actually works really well, especially if you don’t have very strong wrists/hands. It opens cans incredibly easily. Just don’t get your heart set on the purple color… I ordered the purple one and it’s more of a light grayish-blue color. Very disappointed in that. Also, it doesn’t open as much as a regular can opener. The handles on the can opener I’ve been using open about 180 degrees. The handles on this can opener only open about 45 or 50 degrees. I’m sure the can opener will still work fine, the blade seems sharp. It’s just big, clunky and ugly…I might return it.

This is the smoothest can opener I’ve ever used. It glides so nicely on the can and I don’t struggle trying to turn it or have issues with it getting stuck. Don’t buy a random can opener from the store! Buy THIS ONE!! I honestly didn’t know can openers could be this nice!

Works good, nice and smooth and easy to handle

I was trying to find a quality can opener that wouldn't rust if you washed it and let it air dry. I thought with the name Kitchenaid stamped on it that I had found what I was looking for, but disappointed. It does open cans and has a beer / soft drink opener (if you buy bottles). Guess I'll keep on looking.

I've used the standard, made-in-America, never-fail EZ-DUZ-IT/Swing-Away standards for forever, and they will always be the best. Maybe. This KitchenAid version, although a bit bigger, is just as good, even if a little heftier. On first use, I hated it and thought it was hard to turn; then I realized that the trick is to not crunch down on the handles—just hold them comfortably and turn with ease. Great alternative, for sure.
