I’ve wanted a countertop ice maker for a couple years, both because I like the nugget size ice and because I have a teeny tiny refrigerator with a commensurately teeny tiny freezer. And because I don’t always remember to fill the ice trays and put them in the freezer 24 hours before I know I’ll want ice. I picked this brand primarily because of the decent reviews and, honestly, the turquoise color. The color is adorable and accurate to the online photos. I recommend this whole-heartedly. I can’t imagine going back to manual ice trays. It’s easy to use, and a full bucket of ice happens so much more quickly than using ice trays in the freezer. All the manufacturers seem to primarily tout the speed at which you get your first cubes, but what matters to me is how quickly I get a full enough bucket of ice, so I can fill up my 40oz water tumbler. So I tested it: filled it with water, hit the on button, and clicked my stopwatch. It took just over an hour to get a basket full enough to trigger the “blocked chute” auto off. I’ve uploaded a photo of what that looks like. If I wanted an even fuller basket, I’d have to use the scoop to push the ice to the sides to make room for more ice in the center, where the chute is aimed. I can’t be bothered to do that, though, as there’s enough ice for my tumbler at the auto-off point. It’s pretty quiet. I tested it with the NIOSH SLM iPhone app, and it was 55 decibels at about 6 inches away. It doesn’t drown out the kitchen tv while I’m washing dishes, but I can barely hear it in the next room, just enough to know when it stops. Important note: countertop ice makers of this style do not have frozen baskets. That means, as soon as the ice is created, it will start to melt. It doesn’t melt in the hour it takes to get a full enough basket, but you can’t, for example, turn it on at bedtime and have ice waiting for you when you wake up. That’s just a limitation of a countertop ice maker. I’m fine with this; I turn on the ice maker at the same time I start the coffee machine, and by the time I’m finished nursing my coffee, a full-enough basket of ice is ready.

I am crushed! Pun intended. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Ice Machine and as luck would have it, it started sounding like a very loud dying cat and quit working 3 months after I bought it. I'm not happy because I love my ice machine but I can't pay $189 every 90 days for a new one.

Machine is not quiet and blows a lot of heat, basket is small, but it is quick to make more.

Been wanting one of these for a long time, and I really like it. Did a bit of comparison research first and this one really fits our need as a family of 3 with casual use for ice in dinner glasses, etc. I've always LOVED crunchin' "Sonic style" ice, and now I can make it myself at home. The freezer was packed very well so it shipped great without any imperfections. It's advised to wait at least 24 hours to use it (I read further online that it's even more advisable to maybe wait a bit longer, 48 hours actually, to assure the compressor oil and liquid refrigerants trickle down to where they belong and protect it for the longest service life (like breaking in a new car properly). After waiting a couple days, we tested it. I'm opting to only put bottled distilled water to also care for it by reducing contaminants and scale. Operation is pretty simple, and boy, the ice is perfect. Nice, neat little nuggets to crunch and keep soda's cold. It doesn't take long to begin to make ice, and while it may take about 10-15 minutes to make a large glass-full (like a tumbler) of ice, it's easy enough to just turn it on ahead of time and let it tick away until the basket's full, and it'll keep refilling it as you grab bits to use. The speed at which it produces ice may be a bit slow for a very large, demanding family, but for us, it's plenty quick/abundant enough. I haven't had it long enough to test the cleaning cycle, but I'm sure it'll do fine. I'm used to the process having a Keurig, which has similar routine upkeep for cleaning, conditioning. I plan to keep the dedicated solutions on hand, and they say it's needed about once every 2 weeks. Easy enough. It's not terribly inexpensive, but it should pay for itself in a few months for me, because I'll be cutting out a lot of drive-thru sodas when I can truly duplicate them at home now with less expensive 2-liters and this ice machine. Anyway, recommended!
