Too light for hickory
I don't believe these sticks were cut off the same piece of wood they're completely different colors which means they're different wood or from a different tree. These drum sticks have no mass at all to them. They're made out of hickory why don't they have weight. I will admit they're balanced very well but they're too light in weight garbage will never buy them again

A Great Value for the Money
I had read that these were factory seconds, if so, I can`t see it. They appear to be quality hickory sticks that roll straight. Why only 3 stars? If you prefer smaller diameter (1/2") sticks and are just laying down a groove, these may be just the ticket, but if, like me, you play jazz and/or just prefer a more lively action, these sticks are thicker on the shoulder and neck than what I`m accustomed to and just feel too heavy for "fast driving".

Ok, I took a chance thinking, "no way this is just one pair of drum sticks". Well, it is. These a factory seconds (hence the LA Series). They usually cost about 1-2 bucks a pair. I figured it must be a package of maybe 5 pairs. Wrong! One pair! Just buy the regular promarks. 7 bucks a pair.

Lacks finishing. Not soo durable
The media could not be loaded. The problem with the LA SPECIAL was that finishing was bad. I got splinters and being a drummer, this is painful. They are heavier towards the tip. The tips are soo brittle , they got damaged by the first hour. Disappointing product by a company like Promark. Depends on type of playing. I'm a hard hitter , metal and rock doesn't last a single song. Jazz and classical might work.(This part of the review was after using them for 2 months)I'm still using them for practice. The tips have small cracks. The neck gets a solid 9/10 for taking all the damages from cymbals. Hasn't broken yet but I try to hit soft now. It's a good product but costly for the price.
