How do they connect? I tried find device and it couldn’t find it?

Try connecting with a Lightning cable and making sure the small power switch is on for both devices. Your system should automatically recognize the device via Bluetooth after that. You can then disconnect the Lightning cable once the system detects them. Here's the link to Apple's support site: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201178

Will this work with an iPad 9.7”?

I do not have an answer as I only use it for my iMac at the desk

Does the mouse need batteries or si it recharagable? If it needs batteries, are the batteries included?

It's rechargeable with built-in batteries. It uses the apple lightning cable to charge, and to be recognized by the Mac OS. Basically, to get Mac OS to recognized, you don't need to find it via bluetooth. It will bluetooth pair it by just plugging the USB cable from the computer to the mouse, wait a few seconds, and then unplug it, and voila, it's paired.

Arrived in Original Apple packaging with no marks; it seems original, "pairs" and works as expected.

The keyboard and mouse arrived in LIKE-NEW condition packaged in what appeared to be original Mac boxing, including original paperwork, lightening cable, even the cleaning cloth in the original plastic. Not a scratch front or back on the mouse or keyboard. As a long-time Mac user, I was impressed. Everything worked with a quick charge out of the box. Because the Magic Mouse available in stores does not work with older Mac's limited to OS 13 (Ventura) operating system, despite the claims, buying this keyboard-mouse combination was a huge plus. Despite the ad here reading "Renewed," the boxed set sent to me looks and feels brand new.
