Filters fit perfectly for the PuROmax 4 stage RO system! Good tasting water! Very easy to replace, refer to your RO system manual for instructions.

I used this filter set to replace the filters in a Formula Model III/VIII system. Other than a left behind pamphlet I had no information on this system but it appeared to be pretty standard and probably hadn't been maintained in years. This isn't a complete list of instructions (they are easy to find online) but here are some specific things I encountered during the replacement. 1) Changed out the pre-filters. Had to use a strap wrench to get them unscrewed but otherwise uneventful. I cleaned the canisters with a mild bleach solution and after reassembling I flushed a gallon or so of water through to keep the carbon dust out of the new RO filter. I also put a small amount of food safe O ring lubricant on the seals. If you don't have some you might want to order a tube. 2) Changed the RO filter. Again needed a strap wrench but once loose it was easy to unscrew. Old filter can be pulled straight out with a bit of force using pliers if needed. Cleaned, put lubricant on the seals, slid the new filter in, and screwed the top back on. 3) First problem - my existing post-filter had smaller fittings. Bought two adapter fittings at local hardware store and finished install. 4) Decided that was pretty easy. Turned on water and it made a terrible racket, constant buzzing and knocking noises. Also a lot of water was going down the drain. After search online decided to see if it would stabilize after an hour or so - it did not. 5) Suspected the shutoff valve which turns off the water input when the pressure in the tank is high enough. Unfortunately I could not find an identical valve which mounted directly to the pre-filter housing. I used one with 4 connections Purenex ASOV Auto Shut Off Valve, 1-Pack - 2 for the water source to RO (part that shuts off) and 2 for the RO output/tank which is the pressure that controls the valve. After minor replumbing this worked, but still some knocking and a lot of water going down the drain which made a ton of noise. 6) After more searching and some experimentation I decided that a flow restrictor was also needed on the drain side of the RO filter. Put in a TmallTech 50GPD Flow Restrictor 300CC 1/4" Quick Connect for RO Reverse Osmosis (pack of 2) and that seemed to do the trick. Now everything seems to be working correctly; you draw out filtered water and the shutoff valve opens up, there is a trickle of water down the drain for a few minutes as the RO filter does it's thing, and then once the tank is refilled everything stops. Sorry I don't have a meter to confirm the quality of the water but it does look/smell/taste great and makes nice semi-clear ice too. Happy with these filters and I will order them again. Hope this gives you some idea what it might take with an older system and is helpful.

Not happy with the way my water tastes now that I have bought this filter. Not sure if it’s the coconut shell. I have wait a couple months to see if i will get use to the taste and is not. It would be nice to get a discount code or a replacement. The filters are not cheap.
