Exceeded expectations!
Great size, loaded with bones for the kids to discover and compare with the included chart. The pellets were perfectly dry and sanitized. Awesome science project for 2nd and 4th grader (the preschooler even thought it was cool). My kids were worried about the ick factor before they started pulling the pellets apart--within seconds, they were completely fascinated. It's a super dusty activity, FYI--and make sure you have a couple of tweezers on hand.

So Cool!!
These pellets were great! All 5 pellets had a skull in them & lots of interesting bones. All 3 of my kids (ages ranging from 4-11) loved going through the pellets and none of them were disappointed. Tweezers are definitely helpful, so have some ready. We’ll definitely order them again!

Dissect and owl pellet!
We homeschool and I needed something for our unit on birds and biology. This is a great activity. These pellets are somewhat small, you can certainly buy bigger ones. But for the prices, these are probably the best value.Essentially you use a toothpick or skewer and pick apart the pellet. Inside you will find pieces of bones and sometimes hair. They came wrapped in tinfoil and they did not stink when we opened them. They came with a little chart so that you can match the bones to the animal that the owl might have eaten. The only negavie I have was that they were not shipped in a little box. Instead they were wrapped in a little bit of tinfoil and put in a bubble envelope. They came smooshed just a little bit. We were still able to 'dissect' them and find all sorts of interesting little bones.Great product.

Educational and fun
This package comes with 5 owl pellets, approximately 1 1/2" long. As the other reviewer mentioned, they are just wrapped in foil and sent in an ordinary manila padded envelope without any directions. I was able to find instructional videos and directions by doing a search online and even a bone identification chart, which helped my kids (ages 9 and 6) identify their findings. Basically, you carefully pull apart the pellets on a piece of white paper and very gently pull out the bones, teeth, etc. with your fingers or tweezers. Our pellets contained many bones and several skulls, much to the kids' delight. Our bone chart led us to believe that our owls consumed shrews. This project is a good lesson in patience; it kept us entertained for about 30 minutes. They got to keep their "findings" in a plastic baggie. Be sure to wash hands thoroughly after handling the pellets.

Great Value
Great choice for an economical look into an owl pellet! My daughter and two of her friends are working on an owl presentation for their homeschool group and these were PERFECT! Everyone got a large amount of "parts" in each of the pellets and they were all different! The smell is quite terrible, but it is, afterall, owl puke . . .***UPDATE*** You may find this information helpful if you have someone who is interested in dissecting an owl pellet who has a weak tummy. We were unable to spend the time needed to sort through everything in the pellet so we soaked it in witch hazel and it did away with the smell as well as separate many of the bones!

Great product!
Class greatly enjoyed dissecting pellets and each pellet contained at least one complete skeleton, most two or more! (Bones are teeny tiny!!)I questioned which size to get. Was happy with size and quality.

Fun learning activity for my kiddos!
This is our THIRD time purchasing owl pellets. Every pellet contains bones and skulls, and I promise you will not be disappointed! It also comes with an informational packet with a diagram of the bones your child will find. My 6 year old daughter LOVES dissecting these things, and now her sisters are getting in on this action.Such a great learning experience for them!! Highly recommend!!

Much better than we even expected!
Bought this to go with our homeschool owls/nocturnal animals unit. I was a little nervous about buying from an unknown seller, but the free shipping got me. We were amazed at how many skeletons we found in these small pellets! Six skulls and many, many other small bones. One pellet contained a complete skeleton of a mouse - even the vertebrae and tailbones were all still attached to each other! It was totally worth the money, we loved it. Would definitely buy again. Oh and ours DID come with a sheet identifying possible bones you might find, unlike many reviews stated.
