Lovely Cookbook
Compliment: This cookbook has wonderful recipes!Complaint: I received this cookbook a few days ago. Upon the first viewing, the binding broke away from the pages. While the pages are filled with beautiful photos, the quality of the binding is awful. I will be asking for a replacement.

great series of cookbooks!
I started with the Whitewater Cooks with Friends and bought all the rest. The directions are clear and concise. Not allot of odd ingredients. The recipes don't rely on butter and cheese for all the flavors. Really fun and unique recipes for the adventuresome cook.

Great cookbook
This was recommended by someone I know. The crackers ( rosemary, sesame seed, etc.) are truly amazing and very easy.

Great cookbook
I received the first cookbook as a gift, which is titled Whitewater and is a collection of recipes from their restaurant in Nelson! BC. We loved it and have used it consistently, with consistent enjoyment. Once the person who gifted this cookbook knew how much we enjoyed the book she gifted us with Whitewater Cooks At Home And Whitewater Cooks with Friends. We find that we use the two most recent cookbooks most often because they have true entree sections. The original book was a reflection of the menu of their skier oriented clientele, so not tuned towards a dinner oriented cook. The salads and soups in every book are wonderful. We are not big dessert eaters, but the recipes we have tried are really good. I only have one negative comment and that is that the index is annoying. It is quicker to search through the appropriate section of the book rather than to try to find it in the index. I would give all three books five stars.

Beautiful series
I think the whole series of books is great. I did try the chicken on skewers with yogurt sauce. Excellent. Can’t remember which book of the series it is in. Sorry to be so vague. I will say I read all the reviews and find it very helpful to try recipes that are suggested. I have many cookbooks but think the series are innovative and user friendly. I can highly recommend the series. I have many more recipes I am anxious to try!

A must have cook book if you love flavour and freshness
I saw this cookbook in a gift store and, after reading a few of the entries, I knew I had to have it.When it arrived from Amazon, I tried a recipe the first day and it's now sitting prominently on my counter because I'm using it so frequently. It contains chapters on Starters : Salads : Soups & Sides : Dinners : Desserts. As with many modern cookbooks, the photography is inviting but with these the photos are true to the end product.I like that she provides suggestions for what to serve each recipe with. She sometimes offers suggestions for substitutions, and if the recipe is ideally suited for making a day or two ahead of expected company.I've tried so many of the recipes so far and one of them twice (Seared Duck & Orange Salad, though I substituted chicken for the duck), that I won't list them all. But here are a few of our favourites from the many I've made: "Blue Cheese, Bosc Pear, & Pecan Salad", "Crudites with Nutty Miso Dressing" (great and simple when you have guests), "Caramelized Onion & Gorgonzola Tarts", "Tuscan Style Lemon & Herb Split Chicken", "Grilled Steak with Oven Roasted Tomatoes, Blue Cheese, & Red WIne Demi-Glaze", oh and the outstanding "Halibut with Wasabi Pea Crust"! -- that was amazing and so quick and easy. Now I feel guilty leaving out some of the other memorable dishes but you get the idea. She also explained a simple way to ensure fish is done correctly which I've been following ever since - no more overcooked fish in our house :)One thing every one of the recipes has in common so far is flavour -- there is a distinct and delightful flavour to each dish -- never something bland or boring. Just because the dishes are full of flavour, they are not difficult to make. The reason I'm writing this is because I came online to order another Whitewater Cookbook since this one is so amazing. This is coming from someone who hardly ever buys new cookbooks -- that's how impressed I am with this one. My husband thinks I've gone to cooking school!

Love it
I now have all three of books by Shelley Adams. Let me start by saying "Rich marsala oxtail soup with mustard cream". Delicious.Shelley's recipes are not complicated. The instructions are clear, easy to follow, the pictures are enticing and the results are excellent. A few of the recipes are a take on classics but with a refreshed look, but mostly this is a book using fresh ingredients to make some great recipes. Of the recipes I have made so far, they have all turned out exactly as expected. If you like to entertain and would like some go-to recipes that are fresh, uncomplicated and very tasty, add this book to your cooking arsenal. My one issue is Adams does add where to buy the ingredients in her home town - a bit of a waste of time considering her books are sold across Canada and a very small percentage of users would find that little tidbit useful. Yup, that is the worst I can say about this cookbook. My guess is you won't buy just one book in this series - buy one and you will be hooked.

Not all products mentioned are available
Unfortunately there are items that are in the cookbooks that are only available in Nelson, not great for those who buy the books and don’t live there!
