In other reviews I see confusion on how to properly use this filter. While it is very easy for me to understand I have seen others with issues. Kent really should include a initial setup guide. I received the pitcher today. Before ordering I tried to learn what I could about use, cleaning, replacing filter media. The last was a big thing for me as it seems nearly all water filter require proprietary filters which aren't all that much less than a new pitcher. Not much information provided and not much needed. I washed all plastic before using, removed filter basket and seal and then placed under running water. for a few minutes. Initially black dust from the filter media and then ran clean. Assembled and filled. Though packaging states 3 liter capacity the most it will filter is 1.75 when no more water passes through. Total filter time for 1.75L less than two minutes. I checked total dissolved solids (TDS) and the well water has 90 TDS after filter 75 TDS. Both are excellent readings. Taste compared to my very good well water is slightly better. I bought this because there is nowhere near to have the well water tested for bacteria and organisms, and at my advanced age I now play it safe. Before letting 4 one liter bottles of water lay in the sun six hours a day for UV to do its magic. Now the filter will do that. The replacement media I purchased the same time appears to be activated charcoal and when I change it will see. If so it's cheaply and easily replaceable along with the paper sediment filter on top of the cartridge. All in all, I'm very happy. I hope this will help potential buyers with their choice.

Bought this for my bedridden 86 year old mother as per the Doctor's advice on drinking Alkaline water. Found black particles in the filtered water. Called Kent Customer Care but in vain. Very disappointing to know that there is no support for this particular model of Kent. In fact I bought this new one as it was difficult to replace the cartridge or medium or filter pads in my previous Pitcher!!

Overall look good. Need improvement in plastic quality. It is very thin and break or crack eassly. Water taste good. Cartridge replacement cost is high.

I am happy with this product

I tested with litmus test and found that it genuinely makes water alkaline and taste is also good. Let see in future how long it keeps water alkaline. However few smaller issues were there. Like packaging was very fragile and almost open. Second, after filling water when I looked at purifying candle I found water dripping from top of candle also. Then I disassembled it and tightened the candle. So these are primary issues. No “how to use guide” inside so figure out yourself.
