Daddy Christmas and Hanukkah Mama

Great for kids with interfaith parents!
This is a great book we have introduced to our 1 year old over Hanuakkah and Christmas this year. It will be a tradition for years to come. It's accurate for our home too, since I am Jewish, and my husband is not. It has beautiful artwork and even a couple of fun recipes in the back of the book!

Wonderful book!
This is an amazing book! Iβm Jewish and my husband is Catholic and we were looking for a book to teach our children about both traditions. This book met our requirement and then some. Really beautifully written and our kids love it!

A gift for our family
We read the review of this book in the New York Times Book Review in December 2012. As we are a family that celebrates both Christmas and Hannkkah each December -- my wife is Jewish, I am Catholic and we are raising our children in the Jewish faith, but acknowledging that Daddy and his family celebrate Christmas and Easter. So it is a balancing act. The book is entertaining, but I felt that it really waters down the real meaning of both the holidays by trying too hard of combining customs and traditions of these two unique holiday events and i think really confuses children. Leaving out latkas for Santa and placing gelt under the Christmas tree is not something we plan to do for our family.

Beautiful story about a multicultural home
Love this book!! I grew up in a catholic/jewish household and am raising my children in a Jewish/Methodist household. When I saw this book I thought it was so awesome!! After reading it, I am so happy I purchased it. Will be a yearly traditional read.

Love this book for a multi faith family.
My 4 year old loves this book. We borrowed it from the library and she loved it so much that she wouldn't stop talking about it after we returned it. So I bought it for her as a Hanukkah gift and we read it regularly year round. It's a really good combo representing a household in which both Hanukkah and Christmas are celebrated and I think she can really identify with it.

Daddy Christmas and Hanukkah Mama
My little one just experienced his first holiday season. I wanted a gift that could last him for years and years and make him understand how special and lucky he is to be able to celebrate twice as many holidays. I think we hit the bullseye with this. It's full of clever prose and gives equal attention to Hanukkah as well as Christmas and integrates the two in so many positive ways. It actually gave me some great ideas for traditions I'd like to start as he gets older.

Avoid this book!!!
If you are Jewish, you'll find the content appalling in its lack of insight into the meaning of Hanukkah. I could not give the book to my granddaughter, and seriously considered putting it into the paper recycling, but a friend of my daughter's wanted it (she's Christian).
