I needed this to burn cds worked great. Fairly good quality its a plug and play I burned my first cd thru windows media player legacy worked fine and fairly quick. Works and I recommend.

Purchased this to import CDs into my iTunes AP on my MacBook. I had over a thousand CDs that I had imported over years into my MACs. When I bought the last MAC Apple would not allow all the imports to transfer to my new computer. Guess they thought I was going to go to their store and buy them again digitally. No go Apple. This burner and CD player works great and am importing a few CDs into iTunes once again. Just plug it into your MAC, open iTunes, load a CD you want to import and the AP will ask if you do want to import, click yes and Voilå! Works great and not expensive at all. So far so good.

This external drive plugged into and worked without any hitch on my Windows 11 HP laptop. I have already burnt several files to a DVD-R. Love how compact it is. I'm able to wrap the cord back into the bottom and put it back in the original box for storage between uses. Love the simplicity of just plugging it in and being able to use it immediately. The usb cord might be a little short to some, but I did not mind the length. It reads the discs quickly and allows for re-writing so that discs can be used like a flash drive. I'm impressed with the ease of use and compatibility with my Windows 11 laptop. If I had to list some cons (hence 4 instead of 5 stars): It does sometimes sit wonky because of the USB cord. When trying to close the tray with a disc in it, sometimes I absently place my hand on top of the drive to keep it still. This puts just enough pressure on the top to bend it down and the tray catches on it and will not close. Therefore, I have to carefully select how I hold the drive while closing the tray to be sure it doesn't catch. To summarize: It does not feel super sturdy as though it may not hold up in the long term, but the cost, compatibility and ease of use make up for this. I would recommend this product.

works like a dream this is fantastic . holy moly dude I don't know how it is with iTunes, but I used it with Burn on MacOS Sonoma and it chugged through 6 CDRs no problem. it's lightweight and the cord tucks away into a nook on the back so it's very portable it reads and burns CDs just fine, I bought it for that purpose only so idk if DVD works

I needed this for a project that required a DVD. It was an economical price and worked well from the beginning. Good product.

I chose this unit because it was a Amazon’s Choice unit and had many good reviews. I liked it because it was compact, easy to use, and had cord storage in the bottom. I was able to use it and rip music CDs into my Apple Music library. I also used it to play music CDs on my MacBook. I did not try burning any music CDs, and I did not try it with any DVDs to watch videos. It worked with my Apple MacBook, as well as another computer that can run either Windows or Linux. No additional drivers were needed to use it with any of these computers. This external drive has a USB 3.0 Type A connector, so I used it with a USB-A to USB-C adapter to connect it to my MacBook. It makes a bit of noise as it spins up the disc, so if you are in a silent setting people around you may hear it spinning up. The read speeds are okay, nothing earth shattering. It takes 2-4 minutes to rip a single CD, depending on how many tracks are on the CD. I only used it to rip less than twenty CDs into my music library and then the tray would no longer latch closed. As long as I held the tray closed it would work, but it would not keep the tray closed on its own. I removed the metal piece from the bottom of the tray and found that the screw mount for the latch mechanism was broken, so the latch will no longer work. I thought about trying to glue it and see if I could get it to work again, but decided against it. I need to replace it because I still periodically rip music CDs into my Apple Music library, but I will not be buying another one of these. They only come with a 30-day warranty, so that pretty much says a lot about how long the manufacturer expects them to last.

I had given up hope that I could ever find a device like this again! I was looking to rip a demo CD I'd made years ago at The Music Place in Berlin, NJ. Well, it was the Recording Studio arm of the establishment, "TMP Recording Studios," if I recall correctly. I loved it. I wish it were still around. The Studio, I mean. But times change. There aren't many of these recording studios left, Everything is Home Studios now I suppose. Which offers a certain amount of democratization for the musically inclined (talented is a different story) to be sure, and that's not a bad thing. But there is something to be said for getting the band together, rehearsed, and then making a sound in the studio. The camaraderie of listening to the playback. The feeling of hopelessness as your part is lowered in the mix. Then, take the cassette rough mix out to the car to see how it sounds there. And having a cigarette while you're out there. 30-some years ago, everybody mostly smoked, even in restaurants. Granted, you had to sit in a separate section. Thinking on it now, it was really weird. You'd walk in, and the hostess (or host, we didn't have as many gender stratifications back then) would ask "How many?" and then "Smoking or non?" Imagine if you heard that today! "Smoke? Smoke what?" you'd probably think. Smoke ... marijuana? Because that's LEGAL now, at least here in New Jersey. There's practically a dispensary on every corner. In fact, we have more dispensaries in town than Wawas! It probably wouldn't make sense to add more Wawas, though. We did get a Super Wawa out on 322 recently, which replaced the little old-style Wawa just down the road from the High School. But still no Sheetz. We did get a Royal Farms out on Cross Keys Road, but that's been the extent of the Convenience Store conflict so far. I did get some jerky from Buc-ee's last year. A colleague had been traveling and picked some up for me as a souvenir, which was really thoughtful. I appreciated that gesture. So that's why I recommend this External CD/ DVD Drive.
