Great U2 compact universal remote controller
Got it 2 weeks ago to replace all my remotes, especially for a LG HU85LA projector, Denon AVR-S770H and an old Daewoo DVD plyer in an AV system. Initial learning: The models of my Denon and Daewoo remotes were not in the DB list. I had to let them learn each button that I needed. Most learnings you have to long press and hold the original remote, but some buttons just need a quick click to learn. If failed to learn, repeat and it will be good. Found this tricks from their FAQ on the web. Sent feed back to add these 2 devices to database. Support told to try closer models if not listed exactly. That works too. MACRO: After initial learn for all these 3 remotes, I added MACRO (one key has many commands for different devices) to streamline the process, e.g. to turn on Projector, to turn on AVR, to set correct HDMI port, to select correct AVR input and sound effect. Attached pics to show some power key MARCOs. Projector takes 5-10 seconds to start up and taking commands after that. So in the MACRO setting, just need to add long sleep, max to 10sec. Only inconvenience is that when to use the MACRO key that has long sleep timer for next commands, you need to hold the remote steady and aim to the devices for whatever the sleep time need to let all commands taking effect. If just one quick click and put away the remote, some later commands in the MACRO will not be taken by devices as the remote is still sending commands. Also, to deal with the HDMI auto power/ARC to turn on other devices that compatible with HDMI-CEC, you do not need to add extra power on key in the macro as CEC will take care of powering up for you. Learned that added individual power in MACRO on will actually turn off the power as CSC already turned power on for you. If a device does not have HDMI-CEC, you do need to add power on on MACRO. One click to a MACRO key will do all magics to turn on power for all devices that required, change the HDMI input port for a device, setup correct the sound effect selection, etc. One click to turn them off once done. Making sure to level set all device at their powered off stage before use MACRO. Otherwise MACRO will so its thing but mess up the power on/off if a device was on before. No big deal, I just setup a key only doing power control in case you need to change individual device power. These sleeping requirements and HDMI-CEC tricks are not related to the remote itself but rather the original devices requirements. After played around it and get used to it, the setup is so simple and worked very reliably every time. All in all, this is a great smart universal remove controller that replaces all my remotes and added MACRO save my time to manage devices. Highly recommended.

Simple and useful
I was a big fan of the old Logitech Harmony Remotes. But since they no longer make them I decided to give this one a try. I didn’t give it 5 stars because of some minor nit picks. Overall it’s a decent remote. It does the job even though it doesn’t have the other features the higher tier model has. Such as an Activity option, for selecting one action to perform functions for multiple devices. Pros: 1 - simple layout of buttons and easy enough to use for my 8yr old. 2 - wide selection of codes to work with newer and older electronics. 3 - somewhat easy setup: I’ll explain why in the cons section 4 - strong enough IR signal that it can read through my entertainment center doors 5 - Bluetooth option. Was very helpful when linking to my Apple TV. I found that it was the easiest way for the remote to link up. 6 - size and weight are just right. Not overly big or heavy. Cons: 1 - no ability to control multiple devices with one setting (like and activity setting on old harmony remotes). I’ve had both styles of harmony remotes - a WiFi one that was also liked to an App that could also work as a remote…. AND…. I’ve also had another IR type remote that had the ability to use activity settings. Both obviously had different pricing just like the SofaBaton. So I guess you get what you pay for. 2 - the setup was not very easy at first. Don’t use the paper instructions. Watch the video tutorials. It will make it much simpler. Also, I had problems setting up my Apple TV via IR settings and ended up having to use the Bluetooth option. Super minor but worth mentioning. 3 - there is a delayed response sometimes when using the remote with your device. Not annoying enough to return it but it does take some getting used to. Again you get what you pay for. I’m sure the more expensive version doesn’t have this problem. In summary, it’s not a harmony remote. And you could buy a cheaper universal remote and get a similar performance. But I did that prior to getting this one and I’m actually happy I decided to go with this one. Just go into knowing it’s not going to be perfect and you’ll enjoy it as well. Realistically no remote is going to satisfy everyone’s expectations. I would buy it again.

Great Concept - Poor Execution
Interested in this product? Know the facts before you buy (see below) This review is not based on a single use (I purchased 3 of them and all of them perform the same), and is also based on 2 years of use. GOOD: - Has the ability to run multiple devices from a single remote - The configuration of this product is fairly easy BAD: - The IR (infrared) sensor has a very short range and requires the "PERFECT" angle from remote IR sensor to device IR sensor. If you are used to changing the volume while standing off to the side of your TV, you will not get that luxury with this remote. If you are used to changing the volume while in bed, you're getting your ass up and standing in front of the TV. - Multi-taps! This is by far the most annoying behavior of this remote. When pressing the select button you might select the option highlighted on screen, or you may end up 4 selections in. If you click on a category to see your options, half the time it starts a show at random because it multi-taps, so just by clicking category [x] the remote has taken you to the options, chosen the 1st option and pressed play in a single click. Don't even try to type in the on screen key board. Trying to search "Comedy" may get you "Commmm" or "Comm" and when you go to delete the extra "m" now you might have "Com" (if you're lucky) or "Co" or "C" and sometimes it deletes them all and you have to type it all again. - Unresponsive, the remote may take 3 - 5 clicks before it starts recognizing you are trying to use it. Maybe it's because you were not standing in the perfect spot in the room with the remote at exactly 3.58746 feet from the ground and an angle of 32.6587456 degrees to the IR sensor of the receiving device and you just farted so the dust particles are in the air obstructing the view. Or maybe it's because the company did not hire anyone to perform Quality Control. But these are CRAP!

Very flexible, easy setup, controls all my devices
I had a Logitech Harmony remote, but that one died and the product line was terminated. I did look at Sofabaton a few years ago, but their library did not have all my devices. I saw a positive review from channels I trust, and it was on sale, so I tried again. Today the library of devices is extensive, and the setup was easy. Then came the hard one: my Kodi/Raspberry Pi streamer. No Kodi was listed, but there was a Bluetooth keyboard. Since Kodi has tons of keyboard shortcuts, I tried it. How Bluetooth switches between setup and device control was confusing at first, but once you trust that Sofabaton does it right and you accept to let it go.. it works. I was impressed. The arrow keys worked right away, so I knew success was in my reach. I quickly understood how to remap the keys, a really easy process with minor quirks. I did not originally plan to use Bluetooth, but I am now glad it is there. I also tried the learning mode, and was confused at first. After you realize when to use the Sofabaton or when to use the app, it goes well, is quick and easy. Once I understood how the setup worked, I went for max comfort: how to make the sound level +/- keys always control my AVR (not the selected device) and how to make selection of input really simple. The smart phone app is _really_ good. Even while the Sofabaton features are not as advanced as the Harmony, I was able to achieve a more satisfying result with less effort. You have to repeat some setup for each devices, but you don't have to commit to hours of programming training like you needed to setup the Harmony. The Sofabaton is an impressive combination of simple and flexible. In the end you can do what you want thanks to a very user friendly interface. Some comments refer to Bluetooth not working well. It worked perfectly at first, then I found that it may take one or two touch before it reconnects. A bit annoying but not a huge deal for me. I feel that Sofabaton could improve the product usability by not disconnecting so early on inactivity.. That might be necessary to save battery usage? Last but not least, I no longer get the remote desynchronized on sequences commands (multiple devices) like regularly happened with the Harmony (the Logitech process for resynchronizing is a badly designed, lengthy morasse!). Overall I highly recommend this device. Sofabaton is a Chinese company: this might be a turn off to some. It is still worth it nonetheless.

I REALLY wanted to like this remote!!!!
I've had Logitech Harmony remotes for years, and when my Harmony Companion (with hub) died, I needed a replacement. The Sofabaton seemed about the only choice out there. I can't believe that someone hasn't picked up and created a real replacement for the Harmony remotes. Anyway, after much searching, the Sofabaton was the only viable replacement, so I purchased it. The Good: * It feels good in the hand. * It does work, after quite a bit of learning. * It's at a good price point. * The Sofabaton support is fast and good. The Not So Good: * There is literally NO documentation. Yes, a little sheet does come packaged with it, buy it is VERY LIGHT in instructions. So, I went online for their PDF manual, and.... it's just as light. They do suggest several YouTube videos, but it's not sufficient. I'm a techie, and it was still a challenge. It needs a step by step guide, to first add your components, then go into programming the remote. Once I learned the system, it was easy to get around, but it needs FULL DOCUMENTATION! If not on paper, then at least as a PDF on their website. * The buttons "CLICK" as you press them. That's the most irritating thing. The Harmony remote that I've had is totally silent. This was probably the issue that had me return it. * No ONE PRESS to go from DISH (or cable if you have it) to the Smart TV function. You use the scroll to change from one or the other, and that remaps the keyboard. For me, Pressing DISH gave me the remote buttons for my DISH Hopper, then I programmed another button to go to my LG Smart TV section. Going back to TV and DISH, just the reverse. With the Harmony, one button does it all. It should never have to be a two button process. If I were you, I'd give it a try. It's the only thing out there. I really needed my Harmony back, so I found a used one on Ebay that's in perfect condition, for $91.00 with shipping. The prices for these discontinued models are all over the board, on Amazon and Ebay. But, when I reprogrammed this replacement, I had forgotten how incredible Logitech was (and is) when you program it. Just amazing! In 5 minutes, I had it fully up and running and the process is almost automatic! Just need your model numbers and inputs and the app does the rest. Please someone... some company, make a true Harmony replacement!

50 dollar holler, Ain’t hollering anymore.
UPDATED REVIEW: SCROLL DOWN A BIT—- :-( “Fancy feature packed universal remote at an amazing value!! Setup is soooooo easy via smart phone and the pre loaded remotes codes are handy. Learning capabilities are the easiest I have ever used, with that it works my fireplace too!!! WOW! This remote is GREAT! $50 dollar holler!! The over priced Logitech remotes will just fade into the abyss because the SofaBaton came to slay the day!! Super easy to use. Only draw back is the keys are not backlit (easy fix cough cough!) and it doesn’t work with the wonky PS3 remote, not a big deal I only really use that as a Blu-Ray player anyhow. With the learning capabilities it can even work my weird RV dvd radio combo! RV People this is the remote for you!! Did I mention it is only $50!!! Even my pessimistic spouse loves it!! Do yourself a favor and stop laying 3+ remotes beside you at all times.” NEW UPDATE EDIT!!!!! 2/26/2025 So yea I loved the remote when I first got it. But TWO remotes later (first replaced with company) I had the same issues with the second one that I did with the first. Biggest issue: the scrolling roller faults. Did that on BOTH remotes. And it eats Batteries!! Like the Cookie Monster -Om Nom Nom! Could I have gotten a 3rd remote? Probably, as the replacement lasted LESS THAN A YEAR —same as the original remote. But do I want to go through that replacement process again and reprogram a new remote- and it FAIL less than a year later?! NO, NO I DO NOT! Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool we thrice- yea I am not doing that! Two strikes and you are out. In addition to the scrolling bar, the programming for my weird RV Westinghouse Roku TV never worked well on either remote- not to mention the Apple TV was so glitchy on both, but I do applaud Sofa Baton for putting Bluetooth on this value universal remote in the first place. Albeit it did not work well- ever. So in my next search for a universal remote I came across a GE cheap remote that does have backlit buttons ANNNND it is rechargeable. So far it has worked most of lmy devices including the Roku tv and Apple TV (Apple TV needs a line of sight for IR operation-one downside) You wanna know how much this backlit recharging remote from GE costs?? $18.00!!! Does it work the RV fireplace, NO. But I guess for that one device I can have another remote hanging around. The GE remote is Not Learning, but it does include weird codes for obscure electronics and at $18 with button backlights and rechargeable battery, it is a good replacement for a 2 and a 1/2 times the price remote that crushed my dreams of full remote integration. Maybe the $200 sofa baton is the supreme device, but I spent $300 on a remote that did do all smart home things for a while- and I waited one year for delivery on and then it was outmoded/not supported 3 years after I funded it on a kickstarter campaign- so i don’t have a lot of trust for the online app managed remotes anymore. One that need updates. So here I am representing a good old fashioned GE remote you can buy in a Walmart. But hey it works- and that is the point of a universal remote in the first place.

Impressive capability without complexity
As a former harmony enthusiast, when that company was eaten by Logitech and failed to update their product, I was pretty pessimistic about the future of universal remotes. For years, I just went back to having multiple remotes and with the advent of HDMI control. It wasn’t that bad however, whenever I wanted to change the settings of the picture or sound, which I do quite a bit, I was back to remote flipping. I honestly didn’t think a general universal remote could come close to what Harmony did so. I waited and waited. And then came the ultra expensive options (yikes). I knew that as good as those were, the amount of time would take to program them and set them up was going to be exhausting. I started to see positive reviews on sofa batons U1 so when the U2 came out, I still waited but eventually I just picked one up. With the improved back lighting and standard AA batteries, I knew they were on the right track. It only took me one session to get everything set up. My initial thought was “no activities”!? But I realized there was macros, and you could assign any button to any device Overriding any function on a set of custom remotes, which is honestly better in some ways and, more important, simpler. It’s really up to you to decide how you want to use things. One thing I will recommend is Define one button cross all devices (I use the input button) to use as a “fix it button” that will reapply the proper inputs and your preferred sound mode in case things get messed up or don’t complete. I was able to do that and many more things, even with the simpler architecture of the SofaBaton. As far as device button database is exhaustive, but fairly easy to search and find your devices as long as you know the model numbers. The remote supports infrared, unfortunately many devices nowadays use some form of RF and this just isn’t supported also with Bluetooth now becoming a standard in remote control that can make things a little bit difficult. So it will depend on how many of your devices use traditional infrared control, but I was able to get Apple TV working with Bluetooth and all my other devices through infrared very well As far as improvements, it would be nice to back up not only your device buttons, but your macros and everything but at least they have a backup function in case you need to reset the remote. But without the macros being saved, it seems kind of half solution. The only other improvement I could think of would be Support for a wider range, remote control like the aforementioned RF remotes and more than one blue Ray remote. That’s probably a bit too much to ask for and such as a simple device. But as far as infrared controls, it really seems complete and I couldn’t think of any major improvements.

Good remote
I think this is one of the best Universal remotes that I have ever used. I think it's pretty cool that you don't need a code list and you can do everything through your phone. For the price I don't think it's worth it to be honest but after buying it and spending the money on it it's not so bad for the price I'd rather pay less for just one remote but it works and it works well. I don't see what the confusion is about it not pairing right. Didn't have very much of an issue pairing it
