Dust Separator

As always, Kreg makes this a solid value for the money and helps to keep the sawdust to a minimum. I am amazed at how this separator lends longevity to my shop vac and reduces the clean up in my 'shop' after I'm done making sawdust. The separator seals nicely over my 5 gallon bucket and makes sawdust disposal very easy.

Works very well keeps my shop vac from getting full, but does not seem to capture all the fine dust that plugs up the filter

This separator works as expected, keeping a lot of dust and chips out of my shop vacuum. It is a bit tippy when moving it around, and it’s a really tight fit for my 5 gallon bucket, but it’s worth the price on my book.

When I received this I thought it looked like it really wouldn’t do much, but to my surprise, it works incredibly well. All the sawdust goes into the 5 gallon bucket and the inside of my shop vac stays perfectly clean. I highly recommend this product

I was skeptical at first , but this Kreg Dust separator works! While using the wet dry vac, I filled a five gallon bucket of wood shavings in the dust separator vs. a few handfuls of chips in my wet dry vac

I purchased this as a replacement for my existing Bauer cyclone-style collector, hoping its lower profile would free up some valuable shelf space in my cramped work area. Immediately after assembling and installing the collector, I noticed an extreme reduction in suction - easily less than 50% of what I had with the Bauer. Upon closer inspection, I observed that the blue insert plate was misformed and was not seated properly. There are small hexagonal holes on this piece that are obviously intended to seat on corresponding posts that are on the main lid. I was able to manually manipulate the insert to align with the posts, however, it immediately 'warped' back to its original orientation. This mis-alignment results in the creation of a gap close to 1/4" that prevents the collector from creating a seal when it is attached to a collection bucket. Airflow can be felt around the entire circumference of the buckets (I attempted use with multiple in order to rule out the bucket as the cause), and is most prevalent near each of the handle tabs, as they have slightly extended slots adjacent to them. This seems to be the obvious reason for the lack of suction I experienced with the collector installed. I contacted Kreg support, who confirmed that the gap on my unit should not be present and concluded that my unit was defective. They offered a replacement, but I opted to arrange for one through Amazon instead since that is where I purchased the unit. I was in disbelief immediately after opening the second, replacement unit when I observed the SAME malformation / mis-alignment of the blue insert on the second device! I have since arranged for a return & refund and will go back to using my Bauer (which works perfectly)! I chose this collector over other less expensive brands, primarily due to an impressive amount of buyer feedback complimenting the quality of Kreg products. While their support team was responsive and helpful, this particular product send to be a swing and a HUGE miss! Actually, I suppose TWO swings, since i received two units, each with the identical defect. This would have been my first Kreg product, but after experiencing the same issue twice I'm simply moving on. The design of this collector is efficient, but not original or unique in any way and it appears that, in my case, the added "feature" they attempted to add is what caused it to be completely unusable. Having had high hopes for this collector made by a company that apparently has a widespread. reputation for quality products, receiving two devices with the exact same defect was a big let-down!!!

It works but not usual kreg quality - the hose to vacuum is too short to go above my dewalt (6in more would have been better) vacuum, the holes in top aren’t aligned (other people have had this issue) which hurts suction, and the dewalt hose doesn’t clip on the separator making for a flimsy attachment (I added some duct tape to the dewalt hose and it fits more snugly). Usually kreg waits until they can do it better not this time.

Save a 5 gallon pail, works great. Save your vacuum filter use this

I find it rare that something I have seen in a video actually works the same in real life. I got this, cleaned out my shop vac and filter, hooked it up and sucked up a large amount of fine dust and larger particles from my planer. All if it went into the bucket and nothing in the shop vac. I was amazed. I bit difficult to move it around while you are sucking up stuff as the hose is not that long but I think with time, that will get better.

Defective. For reasons unknown Kreg decided to use hexagonal pins instead of round ones to secure the blue separator assembly plate to the cover. The pins were deformed and out of alignment. This means that the bucket could not seal making the product useless. Circular pins and holes would have been more forgiving.
