this was recommended to me by my son a chef who uses the same make in the kitchen as do all the chefs. it is accurate and works quickly. is easy to clean and store

I have only had this a few days so I can’t comment of its longevity. I have two other food thermometers, one of which you can leave in the food stuff the whole cooking time so I’m familiar with them and I know what “I like/expect.” From them It arrived in less than a week on normal delivery so that’s OK. I have used it about six times so far and it has been easy to use and clean. When compared it to a scientific thermometer I have it’s within 1oC of that so again OK. I have read some of the other reviews about its lag but I have not found this, certainly within 3secs [not an unreasonable length of time.] you get an accurate reading. As with all probes I have used it tends to work best if at least half the probes length is embedded in the food stuff. I have tried the “self cal” but I don’t know how you know if that would/is working or not. Though as I said above it is accurate enough compare to a scientific one from new. I would recommend buying one of these.

Delighted with this it has an on off switch which preserves battery life and accurately let me know whether food is up to temperature when it comes out of the oven.

Don't know how I ever managed without this! Takes away all of the guess work especially when cooking chicken. So easy to use and small enough to store easily when not in use. Brilliant for BBQ's too. Love it! Highly recommended.

On Off button stopped working. Lasted about 2 years after purchase. Would not buy again.

I use these to test water temperatures - what a dull life I have! however, I have bought 5 or 6 of these so I must think they are value for money. You can put them in you pocket without stabbing yourself and are water proof and accurate to .1 of a degree. They do not like being dropped from a great height - which is generally how I kill mine. The other review that praises the thermapen is quite right - they are faster - but 3 times the price for a slightly thinner tip - possibly the thermapen is over priced - these are just fine.

ETI. Are market leaders in providing this sort of food thermometer. This is a vital piece of equipment for a professional or amateur cook/chef and it covers all food hygiene guidelines. Good value for the money.
