to answer all the questions I hadโฆ.
I purchased the xl green wheel. Iโm going to try to answer all the questions I had that i couldnโt find answers to. This was a good purchase for my Congo African grey & immediately entertained her. She isnโt usually great at foraging around the cage so I wasnโt sure sheโd figure this out but to my surprise she had it emptied in 5 minutes! Though she hasnโt actually used the way turn knob on the front , she just pushes the compartments via the opening. Sheโs a rescued plucker so Iโm trying to find more things to keep her busy& this gave her a job to do. -My first concern was the dreaded sticker everyone commented about so I ordered a bottle of goo gone in preparation & was surprised to have it arrive with no sticker. It was however coated in an oily film on the top cover piece only and lots of scratches so Iโm assuming I got a used one (Grumble grumble) but itโs possible they finally did away with the sticker? -I was back & fourth on what size to get for a grey as I saw them all recommended but i personally would advise the xl. I chose it over the medium because the hole placement to the medium seems like it would spill a lot of things out and also be harder to actually get things out of. The hole in the xl does keep items in the chambers & keeps from spilling out. The chambers are not so deep that my bird canโt get whatever is in the bottom. I will note that if you fill them super full itโs possible a bit could fall out if it spins too fast but not likely. I was worried it might be a little to hard to turn as someone mentioned they could barely move theirs but it spins extremely easily. - others noted their bird pulling the wheel off the base that attaches to the cageโฆ in my photo with the purple arrow, the arrow points to the tab that has to be pressed down to release. To avoid my bird being able to access that tab, I placed the bottom part of the wheel up against a perch. -the photo with the purple circle is my biggest concern & the part I do expect her to break. The small plastic hooks are very thin and my grey is an aggressive chewer so we will see if this hold up. -the bolt/screw that I saw mentioned isnโt really a bolt/screwโฆ. & it was confusing to get off initially as thereโs no instructions. I was trying to unscrew forever before I realized thereโs a button you have to depress to release on the square plastic nut like part. Itโs very easy however if this ever gets lost it wonโt be replaceable. - I also saw someone stated this could only be mounted on horizontal bars ( possibly thatโs just the medium size ?) because the xl /giant models have cross cuts in the plastic mounting bolts so they can be mounted either way. Love how easy it is to clean this. Love that it entertains the plucker even briefly. She initially wanted to kill it but once she saw the cashews she got busy trying to figure it out. She chewed on it pretty aggressively & has not broken it yet, fingers cross! As of now I do highly recommend this toy, may have to update if she breaks it but seeing that itโs held up to macaws and cockatoos gives me confidence.

Keeps my African Grey busy
My African Grey loves this toy; as soon as she realized how it worked, she was all over it. By now, it's become the only way she gets seeds and has reduced the amount she is able to eat in a certain time frame (which leaves more room for healthy food), all the while keeping her busy and entertained. She is still somewhat new to foraging and I think the clear plastic is helpful to birds like her that need a visible incentive to explore new toys. If she isn't able to see what's inside, she often loses interest pretty quickly. With this, though, her food was clearly right under her beak and, once I showed her that there was a way to get to it, she wouldn't stop until she had gotten it to work herself. I'm afraid the concept of rotating the toy with the knob is kind of lost on her, but she has no trouble moving the holes around by holding on to them and pulling. Unlike bigger parrots, she also doesn't seem strong enough to take it apart or damage it in any way. She has trouble spotting the holes, but I get the feeling that her eyesight might not be the best. Either way, it adds to the challenge. I've seen reviews that say their bird wasn't interested in the toy and I can think of one possible reason why this might have been the case. I used to think that her curiosity would just get the best of her with most toys, but have had to realize that she's just kind of paranoid and new things are scary. So, nowadays, I always give her time to get used to new objects and place them in her field of view for a couple of days before I introduce her to them. This and luring her in with treats has made a huge difference in how she approaches new toys. I find that rewarding her in close proximity leads to her seeing them in a new light fairly quickly. She is usually fine with touching them soon afterwards, especially when I place treats on them. I can see why having to unscrew the toy to refill it could be annoying to some people, but because I only put a seed mix in it, I don't need to bother with that. This is the only negative I can think of; it's valid criticism, but doesn't really affect me, since I basically just dunk it into the seed mix a couple times and shake off what has collected on the top. If you intend to fill this toy with small pieces of dry food, "dipping" it into a big container should do the trick and make unscrewing it unnecessary. Lately, I've been filling the chambers with only small amounts of food and adding crumpled-up pieces of cardboard to make things a little harder. (This also leads to way less food falling out of the toy). I'm thinking about adding small wooden beads to the mix as well, just to keep things interesting for her. If you're looking for a time consuming foraging toy, this is it (especially if you also fill it with cardboard or other "obstacles"). It can withstand my parrot's incessant pulling and biting and seems durable enough (at least for a grey-sized parrot). I bought it used for about 11 bucks, so if you think a new one is too pricey and a used one is available, that might be an option for you, too.

Durable Forage Feeder w/ One Flaw
Connects well to the cage. Quality materials and durable. The center circle attaches and detaches so you can easily remove the feeder from the cage to fill. All plastic (except the nut/bolt) so can put in dishwasher. The puzzle is a nice mental challenge for my African Grey. She figured it out quickly but at least it makes her have to forage a little and not just eat from a bowl. My problem is the center locking bolt. This is the mechanism that opens/closes the circle puzzle piece allowing you to fill it easily once removed from the cage. Itโs simply a bolt and nut so you need a screwdriver. The small nut can easily get lost or dropped (granted thatโs easy/cheap to replace). I have another similar puzzle feeder that uses a press and release type of attachment that is much easier to deal with on a daily basis.

Great idea and my parrots enjoy spinning it and watching everything fall.
WISH it was designed for peanuts in their shells. My little Grey and much larger Amazon are unable to reach in far enough to even grasp the shell, crush it, then get peanut pieces. Their beaks are too wide. I place the peanuts at the forefront but as soon as their beak makes contact it shoves it to the back permanently out of reach - which I think is cruel! Now I have taken a whole peanut in shell and crushed it with my molars to flatten it sufficiently, yet leaving enough fiber intact to retain the peanuts, and then creatively positioned it so it can be retrieved by leaving part of it sticking through the hole. My husband ground out the hole quite a bit and they still couldn't get the peanuts - now it just allows a whole lot more of whatever I put in it to fall to the cage bottom, out of reach and wasted. That said, both parrots do get stimulation out of spinning it around, sometimes catching a bite, mostly admiring the mess they are creating fascinated by the principle of gravity. It does have a center screw. Easily enough to loosen with just about anything nearby i.e. keys BUT, I think it'd be a stellar modification to incorporate a suitable "edge" on the back piece for a built in screwdriver. I intend to grind down a short segment of the round back piece.

Must use the right size seeds/feed
Sturdy, well made, my bird seems to enjoy it but what a pain in the butt to refill. ( remove from cage, unscrew the back, refill, seed falling out in the process, screw back & remount ) Eventually stopped refilling it. If food too small it just falls out, too big it gets stuck.

Great value!
I bought this on sale and boy am I glad that I did! I've wanted to buy one for a while but they've just been too expensive. When I was sent a notification that the price had dropped to $16, I bought it right away. Fun toy that requires some effort to get the treats inside. The plexiglass is of sturdy quality although I can imagine that the spinning window could be easily broken by destructive and/or bigger birds. Great attachment system and a good sized toy. My birds were scared of it when they first saw it but now they don't mind it at all. I had to install it outside of the cage out of eyesight for a few days while they adjusted to this huge wheel I'd just brought in out of nowhere. Recommended.

Broke when I dropped it
I was trying to remove the hang tag from the toy. The toy slipped out of my hand onto the floor and broke. It had only been out of the box 10 minutes. Would have loved to at least installed it into my macawโs cage.

Macaw and Eclectus LOVE this foraging toy!
We have a macaw and an eclectus. They love this foraging toy! It took some time for them to learn to use it, but now they are pros! Initially the ekkie kind of raged at it and disassembled it to get the treats (which must have been very difficult), but now he uses it correctly and turns the wheel with only a little rage ๐. The macaw is very methodical and peaceful in how she uses her wheel.

not worth it
my parrot used to love wheels, had more that 5 that he destroyed and played with, been 3 months and still avoids it. he will take some peanuts from it, but something does not go well with him. I think it is the color... but but not sure. anyway, wasted money on it.
