Just installed on 5hp comp. Side switch lights but doesn't turn motor on. Only way to turn on is to hold in the blue conttactor bar. What is wrong?!

Check the starter coil voltage. Voltage needs to be supplied to the coil to pull in the contactor. Is the control circuit 1 wired wrong? 2 is the circuit completed to energize the coil? 3 are control fuses good?

I have a saylor beall 735-80h air compressor ,80 gallon,3 hp will this starter work ?

It did work for my application which is similar to yours, 5hp 3 phase motor run by a 10hp rotary phase converter 60 gallon air tank.

All the the L3 power is going through the pressure switch contacts, why bother with this mag start for a compressor?

The magnetic starter will protect the pressure switch contacts as the amperage will be very low and also will protect the motor for overload

Can this be used as a starter for a 5 hp electric motor that runs a power tool, the on/off switch would still be used. If so how would it be wired

I use mine on a 5hp air compressor. It works fine wire it like the directions say. You need to check the amp on the motor to see if that motor starter will work. If your motor draws less than 24amps then you need a different starter
