Very informative book, but some advice did not work for my baby
Contains very useful information, in addition to recipies. I like that this is one of few books supporting a combination of spoon feeding and BLW, leaving the choice up to what works for parent and baby. The only regret I have is following the advice in this book to ramp up solids quickly at 6 months. I understand baby needs certain nutrients now, but it went against all other advice I received which was to introduce solids slowly and one food at a time. As a result, my baby had terrible constipation leading to a chafed and bleeding bottom. She was in so much pain when straining. She has since gone off solids completely (not interested, also got ill so probably due to that), and a week of BF only has restored things to normal. I will now, once she is interested to eat again, very slowly start her back on solids. Maybe this is just my baby, but I would advice caution.

Useful guide to weaning
I really enjoyed this book, which cannot be said of many parenting books I’ve flicked through! it’s easy to read and very non prescriptive/judgmental. The book take the reader through the various methods of weaning and the pros and cons of each. I found the book to be well researched and informed on baby nutritional needs. A lot of the content is stating the obvious but I found that true of most weaning books (i.e of course natural food is better than pouches and no I don’t need a recipe to steam carrots or make purée) but this was also quite reassuring for a first time mum and there were certainly plenty of nuggets of useful information, so in my opinion worth the buy to

Good read
First time mother, felt really overwhelmed with weaning. some people say start first tastes at 4 months others say 6 months, wasn't sure what to listen to and how to go a about weaning. Wasn't sure about timing or if I should give baby food before or after a bottle or to replace a meal for a bottle. It was all very confusing and I did not want to upset my baby's stomach. This book is more than just a recipe book, it gives you A to Z instructions and information about when to feed, how to feed as well as nutritional information.

Gave me confidence
This book is absolutely fantastic. There’s lots of advice about allergies, batch cooking, nutrition, just how to successfully wean. The recipes are great, really simple nothing too complicated. Yes you can get some recipes off the internet, but knowing they are from a renowned expert and knowing that my baby is getting the right balance of protein, carbs and nutrients has made me so much more confident with weaning and it’s so much more enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Informative & Reassuring
Found this so useful as an introduction to weaning. I was really nervous about starting and felt clueless to be honest… There are pages and pages of upfront advice which I loved as I read through all of this first which gave me a better understanding before I got stuck into the recipes. I genuinely feel so much more confident now and my baby girl is starting to enjoy more family meals with us together which is lovely. She’s obsessed with the chicken croquettes (as am I!) and mini fish pies so I make these for everyone now so it’s nice and easy. She’s not preachy, it just feels informative and the book has recipes and advice for spoon feeding and baby led so it feels well balanced with lots of purees and finger foods. There’s also a good section on allergies which was one of my main worries. Meal planners are fantastic too.

Love it! Is written in a simple way. Author doesn't command you from a high horse. Gives a lot of useful tips. And the recipes are good not only for kids. My husband tried poached salmon and said he would like to have it for dinner!
