Quick, functional, and performant NAS build
The SATA hat was absolutely a charm to work with. I built a Raspberry Pi 5 NAS in almost no time. It was extremely easy to set up, there is a lot of information on the RADXA sote as well on youtube. The sole improvement that I would suggest is the replacement of the external power port with USB-C interface.

Tech test, New server
Bought to test if something could be done, initially was going to make a custom NAS. Changed that and replaced a pi4 (pihole ad blocker) and an HP slimline circa 2009 ubuntu server. 4 Sata SSD (1TB) and a 256GB NVMe on a pi5 4GB. also running Plex Media Server and pihole and other stuff. USB laptop sata hdd auto backup, and usb fan for cooling. The old HP slimline ran 75 watts on boot, new pi5 server runs 15 watts on boot. approx $5 /mon in savings for overall build cost of $350.

Works well with SATA drives. Will not recognise other drives with adaptors - I tried with SCSI and SAS drives with adapters.
