Is this as good as Crazy Shine was for buffing? I'm devastated they don't make it anymore.

No! I haven’t been able to find anything that has buffed my nails as glossy as with Crazy Shine. It was an amazing product!! Revlon, please bring it back!!

is this nail buffer a softer material and a little flexible unlike an emery board?

Absolutly. Softer and more flexible than an emory board. This nail file has an option to smooth out the nail after filed, unlime an emory board.

What are the equivalent grit numbers for each section?

There is a regular and fine grit on each file. Numbers I don't know. Then there are 4 different buffing side on the file. I like them
