Perfect Replacement for my Alienware Alpha R1
This CMOS battery was exactly what I needed for an older Dell Alienware Alpha R1. The connector and cable were already assembled, so installation was much easier than trying to adapt a standard CR2032 battery myself. The fit was correct, the connector plugged in securely, and the cable length was appropriate for the system. After replacing the old battery, the computer started up normally and the CMOS-related issue was resolved. I especially appreciate that this is made specifically for the Alienware Alpha and compatible Steam Machine systems. For an older computer, finding the correct replacement part can sometimes be difficult, so having a ready-to-install option like this is very convenient. Overall, it is a simple, inexpensive repair part that works exactly as intended. Great fit, easy installation, and a much better option than replacing an otherwise working computer. Five stars.

Fixed My Alienware Steam Machine; No More Yellow Light of Death
Purchased this to fix the "Yellow Light of Death" issue that plagues the vast majority of Alienware Steam Machines. While tearing down the Steam Machine itself was a bit of a hassle (the CMOS battery is located underneath the motherboard, making for a very through process), installing the CMOS battery was a cinch. Simply pull out the old battery, plug in the new one, and apply the sticky material provided to stick the new battery to the bottom of the motherboard. The first time you start it up after changing batteries it will likely still give you the Yellow light, but unplugging it and power draining it by holding the power button for 1 minute fixes that. Before I'd get a Yellow Light every time I turned on the system. Now it's been about 3 months since I replaced the battery and I haven't experienced a single Yellow Light of Death since. I haven't found a single review, guide or forum that has definitively stated, "Yes, this is a permanent fix to the problem. You will never have this issue again after replacing the CMOS battery." I too cannot give a definitive answer, as it has only been 3 months since I installed the replacement. But I can assure you that the issue is definitely the CMOS battery and that replacing it with this one does fix the issue. As long as there's nothing defective with how the motherboard interacts with the battery, it should in theory provide a permanent fix. I promise to update this review if the issue ever returns. Edit: 7 years later and I've since given my old Alienware Steam Machine to my father to use as a dedicated streaming box. The CMOS battery is still going strong.

My Alpha lives once more!
After years of enjoying my Alienware Alpha, *it* happened; the dreaded yellow light of death. Now, I did not know about this error light since I never had any issues before(thankfully!) so once I looked up the issue, it seemed the most likely culprit was a dead cmos battery. Since I wanted to get my computer up and running swiftly, I went ahead and ordered this since it was the only one that came up as the one my Alpha required. I didn't wish to go through various purchases and returns. After receiving the battery the day after the light issue(fantastic!), I opened my Alpha up. Going forward, if I do need to lift up my motherboard for this again, I *will* take out the hard drive first. Lesson learned. The back plate that covers the ports was a nuisance, but it did come off. It was then just a matter of unplugging and peeling off the old battery, and then pasting the new battery in(don't forget to peel off the backing!). I put everything back into place, and voilร ! My Alpha lived once more! Not enthused I had to spend $15 for a battery I shouldn't have had to replace, but from what I hear, I got off very lucky. With a planned upgrade to an ssd after upgrading my RAM to the max 16GB, I think this little box should last me a while yet!

Right battery, wrong cap
The seller I bought this CMOS battery from gave us the correct battery for my Alienware Alpha, but with a cap that was too large to fit into the socket on the motherboard. Fortunately, my father is not only a electrician but an absolute chad, so he was able to cut off the cap from the old battery and solder it to the new one and it works perfectly. Still, for $15, we shouldn't have had to go through such delicate work to get it installed. Based on other reviews I'm led to believe my case is a bit of a fluke, but I think people should be aware anyway.
