Makes it so much easier
Used for the first time this afternoon, partners car failed the NCT/MOT. got everything apart and came time to use this to compress the spring. It worked wonderfully, felt very safe and had no issue compressing the old spring or the new spring. Compressed the new spring right down and made it easy to install the nut all the way with no resistance. The tool didn't make any strange noises and no panic moments it just got the job done, used a big dewalt and a socket to whizz it on and off. The threads on the tool were still perfect afterwards as if nothing was ever done to themWorth the investment, made the job quicker and safer than using the threaded rods.Would happily recommend 10/10 great tool.Edit: have used it twice now, it's very important to clean and grease the threads before each use, it'll strip the paint off them when it's really tightened down. Used on a MK4 mondeo and had to compress the spring all the way down so quite a lot of tension on the threads

Big and strong, I like
After using a 'widowmaker' set for a while, they finally gave up and stripped the threads.I thought I'd try a better set, hopefully with less danger factor.Enter this kit - and it's on a completely different level. It's heavy and strong and with three sizes plus a conical adaptor, feels like it will work on anything from a mini to a tractor. It feels very secure and not like you will lose a limb or part of your wall at any second. The cups that slot into the spring are solid and have strong (nylon?) covers that follow the spring profile, they should last well and reduces the chance of the spring slipping out.Winding it up or down is easy, either with an impact or spanner. The only slight negative is the the spring is more compressed on one side as it's a single sided but that didn't cause any problems. Maybe if tolerances are very tight on some springs it could be a problem.Pricewise, I saw unbranded kits that look very similar for quite a bit less cash but this was a quicker delivery and had the Nielson brand so happy to pay the extra.A proper garage will spend thousands on a hydraulic compressor and most will let you borrow it for a small fee. But if you expect to do a few springs over the years (our crappy pothole-ridden roads means they break more often) , this is well worth having in the garage.

Much safer way for strut springs
Found this tool to be a lot safer way to change coil springs it is really heavy duty changed my springs on mk4 mondeo this made the job much quicker and easier, cons are, This does not come with safety chain i had to make my own with length of chain from screwfix i just threaded it through spring and around back of compressor that way if spring did get loose it could only travel a few inches and have less chance of injury,

Needs a better quality main shaft.
CLK front springs. Did the job.Problem was the main shaft is not very good steel, shavings of metal were coming from the inside edge of the main shaft, where there's a cutaway section and you can see the screw, both sides suffered damage, not sure if it would last long if it were in a heavy use situation.

sturdy and reliable
The compressors are very sturdy and easy to use ,they compressed a heavy spring with ease, they are heavy (15 kg ) but that is what it takes to do the job.
