Well constructed, responsive plane. Not the most necessary tool ever made, chamfering is fairly simple to accomplish without any special tools, but having the tool is always better than not having the tool. The one massive benefit to this is in the general amount of safety provided around the blade. You would have to put some effort into getting cut with this plane compared to other styles and this is absolutely excellent in regards to getting my 5 and 7 year old kids using hand tools. Its not an overly massive chunk of hard to handle steel that offers up cut fingers just from picking it up wrong. They will both be able to handle this safely and get it to work well as a result. This was not the reason I bought it, but after holding it I realized how well it will suit this task. Ill surely use it as well, it does work quite nicely and its bright orange. Easy to spot tools always have a decent chance of being used frequently when other things become invisible for some reason in the shop. Out of the box the blades are good and sharp. We all know that nothing is ever sharp enough and the first thing you will do is take the blades to stone no matter how much it cost or how well it cuts. Its okay, we all do it. But, in the mean time they cut clean and smooth. The unit is machined well and the adjustment wheel is smooth and responsive. It fits comfortably in the hand both as a push and a pull plane. The grooving is smooth and even, so it cuts a symmetrical chamfer. Its bright orange. I like it. Sure is better looking than gross yellow. Blades store on board. Good product, good price.

It’s works better on softer woods or particle board. Obviously you can’t go against the grain so you will still need to keep your router handy. But it can speed things up a bit

Doesn’t come sharp enough to cut wood. Also the blade adjustment knob doesn’t lock into place, so it is very easy to move it up or down by mistake. This means that keeping chamfers consistent on different pieces of wood is unlikely.

Want to be able to chamfer boards quickly on small projects without dragging out the router. Really like how the blades are stored in the handle keeping everything in one place. The blades are OK; be prepared to touch them up. All in all a well thought out tool. Pretty good value for the money.

I didn't like it at first. But I held off reviewing it. Seemed like it stuck a lot and might not be as sharp as it should be. But it's common for plane blades "out of the box" to need sharpening. So I used a trim router (on a table) to chamfer, but having done that, and gained some planning experience, I decided to use it again and I see my problem was my lack of skill. I prefer, for a slight chamfer, to use this right angle hand planer. It's easier to grab, and I had a job done by the time I would have set up the router. When I saw potential tear out develop I changed to planning from the opposite direction. I smoothed the final work with a block plane and a bit of sanding. No noise, it was pleasant to do by hand. Mahogany, not white oak. Hardest woods might require something different, not sure. Can't spend hundreds of dollars on every tool so this is a good purchase. And it will probably work better if I sharpen it.

Ich habe mir den JORGENSEN Kantenhobel für kleinere Holzarbeiten in der Werkstatt zugelegt und bin insgesamt sehr zufrieden. Durch die integrierte Führung lässt sich der Hobel leicht und kontrolliert an der Kante entlangführen, was besonders für gleichmäßige Fasen sehr hilfreich ist. Auch für Einsteiger ist die Bedienung gut nachvollziehbar. Der Wechsel der Schneideinsätze funktioniert problemlos und ohne großen Kraftaufwand. Besonders positiv finde ich die Aufbewahrung der Einsätze direkt im Griff – so sind sie immer griffbereit und gehen nicht verloren. Das ist im Werkstattalltag wirklich praktisch. Sehr gute Ergebnisse habe ich beim Hobeln von langen Kanten in Faserrichtung erzielt. Die Fasen werden sauber und gleichmäßig, ohne Ausrisse. Quer zur Faserrichtung oder bei sehr kleinen Werkstücken braucht es allerdings etwas Übung, da die Handhabung dann etwas kniffliger wird und man sorgfältiger arbeiten muss. Insgesamt ein solides und durchdachtes Werkzeug für Tischler, Schreiner und ambitionierte Heimwerker, das genau das tut, was es soll. Für den Preis eine klare Empfehlung, wenn man regelmäßig Kanten fasen möchte.

A truly satisfying purchase. Look at Jorgensen and feel what a quality and value tool is. I must admit I got this plane so I would stop abusing my Veritas planes. The trouble with loving a tool can be not wanting to recognize both its limitations and overqualifications. It's not that the Veritas plane will not do the job, but it feels like tool abuse. A car analogy would be: don't use your Porsche as a daily driver. But you definitely need something better than an cheap import, You want something more solid and rugged than a Corvette or Cadillac. So maybe a German car.... Okay the limits for my analogy have been hit. My ex often accused me of taking an analogy to far. Is that what a marriage is for a relationship? I wanted a plane and potentially a brand that is rugged, more commercial. It was not until I opened the box that the nagging feeling of brand recognition kicked in. When I picked up the included sticker and saw the word 'PONY that I finally recalled my shop class tools. This plane fits perfectly in my hand with excellent weight and balance. Simple and solid, it is precise. This will be tool I will love to use. This will be a tool to outlive me and a tool I will want to pass on. My Veritas will require re-homing as I seek cremation thus burial with me is out.

Zastanawiam się czy na polski rynek nie trafiają produkty o obniżonej jakości. Po.wadliwych szybkościskach teraz mocno niedopracowany strug. Tylko fabrycznie włożone ostrze ma właściwy wymiar. Wszystkie pozostale nie mieszczą się w prowadnicy. Konieczne było przeszlifowanie boków na papierze ściernym. A funkcjonalnie wygrawerowana miara na ostrzach jest absolutnie niewidoczna więc ustawiać trzeba doświadczalne. Ale kolor obudowy ma ładny. Szkoda, że to nie on "robi robotę".
