"I bought this VTech Kidi Star Drum Pad looking for something that wasn't a giant battery and it was a total success. What I like the most is that the pads respond super well to the touch, you don't have to hit them excessively hard to make them some. The games he brings to keep up are very entertaining and really help them learn coordination. In addition, the fact that it is portable is a plus, we move it from the living room to the bedroom without problems. A great detail is that you can connect your own music. Highly recommended to arouse musical interest!"

Bought for a 62y/o developmentally disabled adult I care for, she’s nonverbal with severe cerebral palsy. She loves music, the cheap drum sets with button “drums” don’t have a good reaction time, so I bought these. 10/10. They have silicon/rubber pads to beat on for the drums, and cymbals. Very sturdy and satisfying for her to play with and hear the reverb/bass immediately respond to her tapping them. As for the technical aspect, all of the features she will never understand, but any child would enjoy them and learn a lot! This is a great product and even though she can’t use the technical aspects, it was well worth the $70 for the sound and beat quality.

My kids absolutely love this. It has some customization and even allows for samples to be recorded and applied to the pads directly from the device. There are backing tracks, a metronome, and basic lessons on different drum techniques. Best of all, you can plug headphones into the drum set. 😄 It doesn't take up too much space and has drumstick holders on the back, which is a great function so they don't get lost. So far they've been durable enough to hold up to both of my kids beating on them (only a few days, but that's better than a lot of their toys). I've even played with this a bit! No assembly needed.

My 6 yr old granddaughter loves her drum pad! She enjoys changing up the beats, creating her own sound, switching the tempo, and playing along with the freestyle music. She often ditches the sticks and plays beats with her hands. Hours of fun!

Bought this for my grandson and he is enjoying playing it. The adults enjoy playing, also.

My 5 year old loves it! He’s always pretend drumming to songs and I feel like this is a nice compact way for him to explore that interest. But, I will caution you. There’s a fart/burp sound setting that makes the drums sound like farts. So I advise you to also get some corded headphones for the sake of your sanity. Once they discover it….

The kids are obsessed with this and having so much fun! it works great. It’s very durable for all the hard hitting the kids are doing.

My son wants to learn the drums but I didn't want to spend a bunch of money and take up a bunch of space with a full battery he may or may not use. This is the perfect compromise as it's not too big, not too pricey, and it is a legit little drumset. You can customize the sounds, pick a built-in accompaniment or provide your own, and play along and it's a lot of fun. The tips and lessons are great ways to get started learning how to play properly, while the games help with timing and accuracy while giving you a goal. I still plan to get proper drum lessons for my son but this has been excellent for motivating him to play and learn to do more than just smack the drums randomly.
