I got these for starting my charcoal chimney. They seem to work great, just one is all that's needed to start the chimney and they seem to burn away without leaving any residue.

These fire starters are excellent. I wouldn’t even try to start a fire without them.

Somehow, this larger chimney size works better on charcoal than the smaller sizes. I've gone through 4 already. Sure... brickets light up on anything. But charcoal is entirely another thing. All you need is paper... usually with two paper bags, or newspaper, right on the grill is all it takes. No need for fuel, pouring oil on charcial or combustible tablets. This is great. Clean burning with no chamicals makes better tasting, healthier food. They are perishable tho. Maybe 30-40 uses.

This is not the largest coal chimney starter, but at 7.5" diameter and 12" height, it is a perfect size for my 22" Weber Grill, and not as heavy as some of the larger options. You must pour hot charcoal from the top, which is what I wanted, as the "trap door at the bottom models" seemed to lift half the coals on one side in order to empty coals on the other side, and it would also dump ashes from the starter material or paper used to kindle the flames into your grill. I have used this new chimney a few times and it works great--hot coals in less than one beer!

These are excellent fire starters. I use them daily to light up charcoal for my BBQ grill. Better and less expensive than the starter cubes from Weber.
