Is this safe for my glass tea kettle?

I don't know the exact answer, however if you can place your glass tea kettle directly on a stove top burner, my answer would be yes. They really do diffuse the heat so the flame (if you have gas) is spread out under your kettle.

How to detach the handle?

There is a slot in the plate which the handle fits through. The handle acts like a spring. You squeeze together the handle and lift the handle out of the slot.

mine came in an unmarked box. No markings on the diffuser plate. Sorry, I do not know!
