This fireplace mantel was everything I hoped it would be. The color, sturdiness, weight, durability. I am very pleased with this purchase and recommend this to product to anyone looking.

I bought the hollow 72" x 8" x 3" mantel shelf (3" thick, black, “invisible bracket” style) mainly to help protect my TV from the heat my fireplace puts out. It absolutely helps as a buffer, and it looks sharp once it’s up. What I like: • Easy install with the hidden bracket system, and it feels sturdy once mounted • Big visual impact (72" wide) without looking bulky from across the room • Nice rustic wood grain look at normal viewing distance • Lightweight for the size (I got the hollow version), so mounting wasn’t a wrestling match • Price is great and is one of the highest rated in this price range and category. Things I wish were better: • Mine had a small corner dent out of the box • A knot/plug popped out when sliding it onto the bracket. I shaved it down and glued it back in • A couple small scratches and one spot where the stain/color looked slightly off • After it dried out over time, I noticed a few hairline cracks Even with the issues, the final result looks great on the wall. Nobody notices the imperfections unless I point them out.

Beautiful shelf! Easy to put up

Not a great quality item. When the mantle arrived it looked ok on the one side and colour was a good match. It was starting to crack on one side and there was some slight damage on one corner. Decided to return it right away rather than trying to do that much later if there were further problems. Seller sent me instructions and a shipping label for Canada Post at my expense. Note: postal charges were in excess of $60! A week later the cost of the item was approved for a refund but I am on the hook for the postage. This is an expensive lesson to learn in dealing with Amazon Marketplace sellers.

The mantle arrived damaged, with a few dents on one side and the finish was rubbed off (or not applied properly) on the edges, even though the box wasn't damaged. We initiated a return, only to discover that we had to pay postage for the return. Fortunately, we were able to touch up the finish and the dents were all on one side so we installed it dented side down. We don't recommend.

Very easy to install, great look, not heavy, very good quality. The paint had a small chip but nothing major. Surface is very smooth unlike previous one that I returned from the same company. I believe the company considered my feedback last year. Overall, I’m super happy. I have a 10 foot ceiling and this piece of furniture gave a contemporary classy warm look to my family room.
