Lenovo ThinkPad Hybrid USB-C with USB-A Dock US (40AF0135US)

GREAT Product!! I’ve tried various companies and hubs for my Lenovo ideapad, including baseus, but those are nothing compared to this beast. It has 2 HDMI’s and requires no drivers. Plenty of fast data transfer usb ports and usb c. No need for laptop charger as the cable that powers the hub, ALSO CHARGES THE LAPTOP!! Amazing. Makes no noise at all. Very easy to set up and very functional in all aspects. It is compatible with my Lenovo Ideapad 5 and other Lenovo laptops. It’s great for the price compared to other expensive hubs.

Worked well and did exactuly what it is suppose to for about 6 months. Shut it off on a Friday at work for the weekend and came in on Monday and it would not turn on. Expected better quality from Lenovo that this. Have several Lenovo computers and all work great. Surprising that a support device like this has this kind of an issue. Additionally - buyer beware - I bought this in October 2024 on Amazon with it claiming it was coming from Lenovo. Checking the Lenovo website for the warranty, the product has a 3 year warranty on it. When submitting the S/N to the Lenovo web site for the actual warranty claim for this product it indicated the warranty had expired and the actual product was from 2019. So this was a resale through Amazon that claimed it was coming from Lenovo when it was not.

This dock has finally relieved me of the hassle of constantly plugging and unplugging 7 cables/fobs into my personal and work laptops as I frequently switch back and forth between two computers. The COVID-19 coronavirus lockdown has me working from home during the day and then nights and weekends I want to connect my personal laptop. I wanted to buy the newer model ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 dock since my ThinkPad T470s has one USB-C Thunderbolt 3 port, but I have been receiving repeated warnings that the Thunderbolt 3 controller has stopped working and cannot connect to devices and Lenovo tech support has not been able to resolve the problem. This dock supports data transfer speeds up to 10 Gbps whereas the Thunderbolt 3 dock supports 40 Gbps. The performance I am getting fine, I can't tell that I am missing anything. So getting back to those 7 cables/fobs, they are: power, USB-A fob for external keyboard and mouse, gigabit Ethernet, two external monitors connected to the two HDMI ports, USB-A for wireless headset, USB-A cable for wireless headset stand (which recharges headset when not in use). I have gone from 7 cables/fobs down to one. All I need to do is plug the USB-C cable from the dock to the USB-C port on my laptop. What really surprised me is that it powers the laptop too, no need for a separate power cable. I was not expecting this because my laptop uses a special cable with yellow rectangle plug, not USB-C. I also experimented with the USB-C to USA-A adapter so that I can plug the dock into a traditional USB-A port. When I do that, it does not provide power to the laptop, but everything else works. This is documented in the product sheet that comes in the box.

Out of the box, this is really simple to connect and power on. The labels are clear and easy to read. I use it with a ThinkPad T470, and it sees everything I connected just fine. One thing to be aware of is this device appears as a USB hub in Windows 10, so some device drivers have to be modified. Audio is one example, meaning you'll find yourself adjusting the Lenovo USB Audio if you plug USB audio into it. Monitors, the same thing sort of. You'll need to use the provided software driver for your video card as some of the Windows settings no longer work. Not a big deal to many people, but I wanted to mention it. Right away there was a firmware update for this dock and some driver updates I had to install before it recognized everything I plugged in to it. The USB hub thing is important since if you connect a USB hub to this dock, Windows may push back on you and tell you there isn't enough power or resources to power a hub from a hub. Once all updated and configured, it works perfectly. It took me about 25-30 minutes to get it all done. I paid $250, which I think is too high. But there is nothing else like this out there, so I had to get this one to cut down on the cords and cables all over my desk. Overall, I am glad I bought it and it's an essential part of my desk now.

Works great out of the box for my ThinkPad when running Windows. With Ubuntu, drivers have to be installed manually, which is no big challenge if you find a good tutorial and have a familiarity with Linux

This is a genuine, very rugged docking station from Lenovo. It connects on the dock side with an USB-C connector and another USB-C connection to the PC, although there is an adapter (USB-C to USB-A) attached to the cable so that you can connect to usb-c-less computers. One important caveat: Even though the dock has itself 4 monitor ports (2x Display Port; 2x HDMI Port), it only allow 2 external monitors to be connected (there is no enough bandwidth in thunderbolt 3 to connect a 3rd one). If you, like myself, really need the third one the solution lies in utilizing the 2 on the dock and the third connected to the HDMI port on your laptop.

This docking station is the perfect companion for my business laptop (Lenovo T470s). It charges my laptop, have USB-C port for my external solid sate drive, and a few other USB ports for my thumb drives, the front facing headphone jack is convenient (although I never used it). The front facing USB-C and USB ports gives you easy access to plug in your phone or any other device you want. It does all this from a single USB-C cable going to my laptop. The only issue I had was that although it recognized all the peripherals attached to it, it didn't recognized my two monitors right away. I left it connected to the computer and work of one monitor directly attached to the laptop. After, a day, it magically started recognizing my monitors (I only tested the HDMI connection). Anyway, it now works great and I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

I went through the reviews and answers. There is a misunderstanding or partial information the answers section. I had doubts about whether it would extend display on two monitors and I purchased this dock with that doubt. It extends the display display on two monitors - tested on my Dell U2415 monitors using display port. Guess what, the laptop works as third screen. Unlike what has been answered in the answers section, it extended display on two screens without duplicated one of the external displays. I used my Lenovo Thinkpad E14. It powered up the laptop and was charging the laptop too. Yet to put it in actual use at the office. I will share if there are any cons or any issues. The test run was like charm, no driver download required. Plug and Play! Forgot to check the HDCP and HDR. I will do it and leave my findings here. I am sure the review by A.C. about the same is true. However, I am not intending to use it for that purpose but yes, if you are planning to view the movies on extended displays through OTT platforms, this may not be the product.

Tengo una laptop Lenovo del trabajo y una laptop MSI para uso personal. La laptop MSI no tiene puerto de thunderbolt, por lo que tenía mis dudas de si funcionaría. Funciona perfecto con ambas laptops, lo único que no funciona con la MSI es el botón de encendido desde el docking y la función de cargar la computadora (tengo que conectarle el cable de alimentación), pero es un inconveniente menor y se entiende porque no es thunderbolt, la conecto mediante el adaptador USB A que el docking tiene incluido. Le conecté 2 monitores de 1440p a 144Hz y funcionan a la perfección, además de una cámara web HD, una diadema y un mouse, y aún me quedan 2 puertos USB A libres. Una maravilla para no estar conectando y desconectando los periféricos de ambas lap tops.

Major benefit - two 4K monitors, trackball, pod cast mic, power supply all connected via one USB C cable to laptop. Minor con- The single USB Cconnection runs from the back of the hub to where it connects to the laptop. Preference is it runs from the front of the hub. It’s not intuitive to connect from the usb C port on back of the hub but it is diagrammed in the small manual.
