Yes, it can be opened and closed. It works great for an adult with small hands. The opening is not big enough for a person with large hands to use. I use the puppet at church and the kids love her.

Q: Do you have enough room in the doll for your hand to feel comfortable, or is it tight?

I have enough room to feel comfortable. I am a woman with average size hands. I am also a musician, playing guitar and piano, so I think it would bother me if it was tight, but it is not. This is a really good puppet, I like it a lot.

Q: Are you able to chage the clothing on the puppet or is the clothes sewn on?

You can take the clothes off, they are not sewn on. It is a beautiful puppet, and well-made. I definitely recommend it!
