Will this work with the new ipad pro with usb-c socket?

YES! However I thought mine didn’t for a week as it it takes quite a bit of a push to get it into the iPad. It really has to click into place with no play at all for it to connect. If there’s any play at all then it’s not in properly. I was surprised at the amount of pressure needed to connect and disconnect the thing however.
