Yes, I think it works. I also use it a lot to maintain my coffee machine.

Is this lubricant safe on rubber and plastics?

It will not harm rubber or plastic. The bushing inside my grinder is a plastic/nylon material. This lube works great on it. Also works great if you put a light coat on your car door rubber gasket to keep it from freezing shut in the winter.
