I've been using Lightburn for over a year and have wanted to add a camera to the setup for some time, but the Lightburn cameras were a little too pricey for my taste, esp. knowing there were better options. After doing a lot of research I finally landed on this little guy and I am not disappointed. The camera has a very wide 118 degree angle of view that allowed me to mount it under the lid and still be able to see the entire 20"x28" work area clearly. The unit ships as just a tiny camera mounted to a tiny PC board, so knowing it needed a case, I decided to use my skill as a 3D artist and 3D print one. It turned out perfect, its about the same size as a business card, and very easily mounted to the lid using high quality double sided tape. Once I had it attached, I ran the USB cable to the PC, plugged it in and the camera installed all by itself, no problems and no driver, it just worked. So in Lightburn I selected the option '16mp USB Camera' in 'Settings' and went through the calibration process and within about 20 minutes I was up and running. It really is great being able to accurately place materials on the cutting bed and locate them visually in the interface. I think next I'm gonna have to install better LED lighting so that will allow features like the auto trace to work too, bit for now I'm happy with this simple and overall fairly inexpensive upgrade to my system. Highly recommended.

When I got it, I realized It had a fisheye lens which makes it a problem. If you don't have an extra large bed, the sizing's completely off and if you turn it sideways it scales it down too much and it's just a nightmare to work with.

Even though this is a fisheye lens, it works pretty well for my Sculpfun S30 Ultra laser engraver. I extended it to have a 600x900 workspace. At about 14 inches above the wasteboard I can see almost all the workspace. The only caveat is that at the edges the image to workspace doesn’t quite line up, so I loose accuracy. So it is awesome for general alignment, but isn’t super precise. I could spend more time aligning it in Lightburn and maybe get better accuracy, but this works well for me.

Works great with klipper

The camera quality is fantastic and the wide angle without distortion is perfect. Unfortunately, for the life of me I could not use it for the intended purpose. I planned to use it within a laser enclosure but there was nothing I could do to get Lightburn's camera calibration process to see their dot grid. I've had similar problems with many other cameras/webcams I've tried/used and where those seen to be lighting/glare related all attempts to get the perfect conditions for this camera to calibrate with Lightburn failed. I couldn't even get a terrible calibration score but rather the dreaded "can't find" at all. I'm trying to find another situation where a camera with this very specific spec can be used but not likely going to find one. I may pick another FULL DAY of attempts to get it to work but when I'm constantly adjusting the height of my projects which means constant and repeat calibrations to ensure as accurate alignment as possible. Again, the camera is perfect in all the ways I needed but Lightburn's refusal to cooperate with it (and most other cameras) will force me to resort to finding another use case.
