Neoteck Bore Gauge Set Digital Indicator Dial Bore Gauge (2-6"/0.0005")

I have used it a few time so far, and no issues. I do own a set of Mitutoya digital vernier calipers that are professionally calibrated and certified, and this bore gauge/digital indicator is right on the money according to it. I verified for any deviations and there were none. Since it's not something I use very often, I won't be able to attest of how well it does over time but, if you happen to need a bore gauge for your garage/hobbies, this is a nice piece at a really fair price. I trust it. (Used it to verify cylinder bore size, roundness and taper on a 454 block)

The digital indicator is not reversible so it indicates backwards. As the bore gets larger, it goes more minus. I am looking for a better indicator. The rest of the gauge is good, but you have to completely disassemble the gauge to store it in the case.

I used this bore gauge for the first time today and was pretty easy to use. Seems to be accurate as I could repeat my measurements consistently. Not bad for the price,

I’ve been using bore gauges throughout my career. This one doesn’t quite make the cut in my opinion. If you’re new to bore gauges, do yourself a favor and buy the Fowler. It comes with far better instructions, a better case and a dial indicator is going to be a whole lot easier for you than a digital gauge. So here’s my issues with this… the case doesn’t actually hold the washers, you’ll have to put them away in the baggie every time. The guard is a PITA to put on (I usually never put these on). It doesn’t hold zero. After a few minutes it automatically turns off and you will have to re-zero. So once you zero it, you have to work quickly if you’re taking measurements and writing them down. None of these dial bore gauges work unless you have a set of micrometers so keep that in mind. The digital gauge is also hard to read, and it only gives you an output in 5 ten thousands. So it can be off by as much as a half thou. Would also be nice if I could use my dials in place of the digital, but of course it’s a different diameter than every other dial indicator I have. If you’re a newbie to these, I HIGHLY recommend a dial gauge!! Can’t stress that enough!!! With that said, yeah, this is cheap… it will get you within a thousandth… which may be fine for pin bores on heavy machinery or to get you some relatively quick measurements on a block. I wouldn’t be using this for any race engines imho. I did use it on engine bores on a worn out 270k mile motor that I’m overhauling. In that scenario, a thou is close enough for a quick check prior to honing the glaze out. I’ll probably keep it for its price point, but I can blueprint a v8 block with snap gauges in the time it takes to set this up… and they’re just as accurate (if not more). I’ll use this on equipment bores, but would highly recommend the Fowler brand for delicate, intricate and more precise work… but that’s just me.
