Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (1990) [Blu-ray]

Nostalgic movie for me, nowhere near the best in the series but it’s nice to have it on blu ray. Thanks Warner archive.

At the end of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 you seen LeatherFace die but to be brought back in this movie. My thoughs are if Jason Voorhees can come back from the dead like 5 plus times why cant LeatherFace come back???? LeatherFace is back in this film along with a weirder and creeper family if you can imagine.LeatherFace even gets a new chainsaw from his new family in this film and hes eager to test it out on some unsuspecting people who dont know what there in for.This movie surprised me at parts.It had me guessing who could LeatherFace be back with since his old family died????Well he just gets a new one and its back to square 1 for him. The setting in this film is by far the creepiest of all the TCM movies. i really like the new characters in this film and for the most part they did a great job playing there part. This film gets 5 stars from me cause i think itdoes a great job bringing the series to a close. yes i do now that there is a 4th texas Chainsaw Massacre film but i saw it and hated it so i think that this movie is a great ending to the series. if you feel like checking out the 4th film do so but you will be disapointed in it.LeatherFace is the most intimidating in this film. He looks somewhat similair to how he looked in the first film which i really liked.What i liked the most of all about this film is that they had Ken Foree in it you know the guy in George a Romero's Dawn of the Dead????? For me that makes this film even better then it already is which is fantastic cause Ken is such a great actor.This film is wonderful and is my favorite of the TCM series withoubt a doubt.I am gonna watch this film like 100 plus times cause i enjoyed it that much.If you are a fan of the TCM series then you ought to check this film out.and now i leave off with this comment (All Hail to Tobe Hooper for making one of the best horror movie Series ever)

For some strange reason I felt the 3rd film out of TCM series was gonna be my favorite. I don't know why, but when I began watching it, I really liked it. A lot better than Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. However it's a real damn shame that this film didn't become a hit and I'm dumbfounded why it didn't.It had everything right yet it wasn't a hit at box office, oddly the Child's Play series was doing well at the same time. Than again a lot of horror films had hard times during the 90s. What I really like about TCM III is the fact the script was written by David J. Schow, author of one of my favourite novels "The Kill Riff" Such a great novel, if you never heard of it, go check it out! Anyway on to the review.Michelle and Ryan are driving through the blazing roads of Texas while on a road trip to Florida, when they pull over for a pit stop. While Ryan is waiting for his girlfriend, an hitchhiker named "Tex" who tells Ryan of a shortcut and asks for a lift however Ryan refuses. Tex catches Alfredo, the gas station owner spying on Michelle which leads to a fight. The couple flees as Ryan takes the shortcut. Later on that night they are attacked by a truck which throws a dead animal onto their windshield forcing them to stop and replace a flat tire.They are attacked again by Leatherface and drive off only to nearly crash head on into a jeep. Benny, who was in the jeep, helps the couple out however they are chased off into the thick swamp by Leatherface and members of his cannibal family. Will Benny be able to save Michelle before it's too? Or will Michelle become the next victim of Leatherface!I'm gonna be watching this film a lot!

This is my review on the Blu-Ray release of Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III.Part 3 is about two college students traveling across county from California to Florida. On the way, they end up passing through Texas right as another murder has happened. It isn't until they stop at a gas station that their road trip comes to a screeching halt and they come face to face with the backwoods chainsaw wielding man, known as Leatherface.This was probably my least favorite of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies, because it just doesn't feel like an actual TCM movie. There is a lack of backstory for characters, some of the movie is so dark it's hard to tell what is going on and the story is just so far fetched, it makes the Next Generation almost look normal. I liked the idea of Leatherface having a daughter, but then again I didn't. It would be interesting to see the daughter idea come back up in newer films as maybe someone who lures the victims in or in some way helps Leatherface get the victims, it would make for an interesting story. The other family members of the film are forgettable! I couldn't even tell you their names because they weren't that interesting to me. The 2 college students were a good fit for their roles but sometimes it just felt cheesy with their lines (ie. SPOILER ALERT: When the girl ran from the house and Leatherface gets into a truck only to supposedly run over the guy and Leatherface gets out of the truck, she turns around and says "you wanna play? Ha...ok mother *bleep* let's play!? COME ON", Loved her eyes in the scene by the way, but it felt forced). The army guy did a great job in his role and taking charge but again, some of the lines felt pushed then natual.Regardless of my feelings on this entry, I still had to add it to my TCM series. When I first learned it was coming to blu-ray as part of Warner Bros. Archive Collection, I was really hoping for some new things in the way of bonus features, but it was just a rehatch of the DVD version. The worse part is there is no Unrated version on the disc like there was on the DVD. The transfer is pretty solid, but it's still very dark to see at times in the film and the sound is very crisp which would sound awesome on a surround system. There's not much way on bonus features either, there's the trailer, a documentary of behind the scenes, deleted scenes and commentary, which was pretty much all on the dvd version. The artwork also could have been redone rather than reusing the same poster artwork or the same cover as the dvd version. I would imagine, being that it has been 20+ (or less) years since the initial release, that we could have gotten a little more for our buck then a rehatch.It's still nice though that Warner Bros. decided to release this finally on Blu-Ray and I guess for a rehatch, the price isn't terrible. Like most TCM fans collecting the movies on Blu-Ray, we can now only hope for the Next Generation to release to complete the collection on Blu-Ray.All in all, I'm giving the Blu-Ray release a 3 out 5 due to the fact that it's just a rehatch of the DVD version and it's missing the Unrated version. It's still a great add to your TCM collection and would recommend picking it up at some point before they go out of print.

I wish there was a follow-up on this movie, like an alternative sequel where Baby (let's call her Abby) Sawyer is now 25 years old and returns to her childhood home after getting her bachelor's degree to look for her only living relative, her father Jed Sawyer (Leatherface). Unfortunately, she also reencounters her ex boyfriend/stalker, her old school bully and their friends, not realizing that they have made a life-threatening choice on harassing Abby all over again.

Excellent film

Película ya de culto para los amantes de esta trilogía. Ninguna de las tres tienen desperdicio. Una trilogía de esta familia lunática y carnival que no les puede faltar a los amantes del terror. Yo tengo en la familia una persona amante de las películas de terror y ha sido un regalo que no se esperaba y menos en Blu-ray que se ven de miedo me dice.
