Handy cover
Just take the bite valve off and this fits straight on and put the bite valve back with no interference. When you put the cover over the valve, you do need to 'click' it into place - I spent the first day with it flapping around and not staying over the valve so thought it was a waste of money. Seems well made, I paid around £12 which is a bit steep but if I put my pack down I don't want the valve touching anything on the ground, so it does do the job (once you learn to 'click' it on lol)

Perfect - image in photo misleading
Image used in ad is misleading. Nearly didn’t buy it because it shows a black cover. Cover is actually the same grey as the rest of the bits of the bladder. I have the Hydraulics LT 1.5ltr. To install (please see images) 1) pull off the rubber bite bit, may need to twist and pull. 2) push the ring over the valve leaving a gap where the end of the rubber bite bit will sit. 3) push rubber bite bit back in place. Cover clicks in place keeping the rubber bite bit securely clean.

Too loose
Osprey seem to have changed the design of this valve cover. The previous one I bought fitted perfectly, but this version is very loose and keeps detaching from the valve, which is quite frustrating.

Keeps things clean easy to use
Very easy to install and will keep the bite value clean. Shouldn’t have to buy it separately, however.

I love Osprey, but the cost is ridiculous
I have used Osprey backpacks for a couple of decades now, and love their design and manufacturing quality. I recently purchased my second hydration bladder from them, and was surprised to see it didn't come with a bite cover, even though this was a significant criticism by many owners in the past. I therefore, begrudgingly, purchased this Osprey Hydraulics Bite Valve Cover for my new reservoir. It arrived in a branded box, which had been significantly crushed. However, inside the cover was intact. It is very simple to fit, and it does the job of preventing dust and dirt from getting onto the bite valve. It also helps reduce any leakage or drips coming from the hydration pack. However, as you can see from my photo, this has to be the most expensive bit of plastic I will ever have to purchase. Really, this should come as standard with any Osprey hydration pack, because they are not the cheapest packs to start with, and then to pay £12 (which was on "special offer" in May 2026, from the normal £15) is crazy. Even half the price would be high, hence 3 stars and not 4 or 5 stars.

Paying for brand name.
It works, easy to attach, but is expensive for what it is, literally paying for the brand name.

How much?!
Right I was one of those people, I didn't because it's really expensive for a bit of plastic. Then I sat my pack down for a bit. Went for a walk and fount the bite valve covered is sandy grit. So I went for a cheap one and it was a bit rubbish and it was a pressure fit over the silicon so I just put up with it. Then I saw a lad out with the osprey genuine one and then I knew I was getting it Still too dear, though.

Didn't fit properly
Very expensive for what it is and mine fell off

Copertura bit valve Osprey

Perfect fit
Some people are saying that it doesn't fit Osprey's spout. I don't know what they're talking about. You put the ring part under the silicone part, push down until it clicks. Then, put the cap on, push until it clicks. It's perfect. You can now put your pack on the ground without gross stuff getting on your spout.
