Can't go wrong with Kato.
I don't have a permanent layout. I set up my trains a few times a year. I had been using Bachmann EZ track, which I like in Ho scale. Not so much in N scale. I switched to Kato for N scale, and then just decided I might as well switch to Kato for Ho scale too. You really can't go wrong with this track. It's very well make and is easy to connect and disconnect. Works well on any type of floor. It is somewhat expensive, but if you take care of it it should last a very long time.
