Mixed feelings to begin but
Once used to it thought it excellent. Works very quick, accomodates different pencil types and sizes. I was very hesitant at first having read other reviews. It is expensive but so far couple months and working on many pencils with excellent results. I am particularly impressed with fact it does reduce pencil length radically like basic sharpeners - so far perfect, with excellent quality of points. Therecarevoptions -quite useful when youbcan decide size of point, size of pencils. I wouldnt want tonpartbwith it now

Rubbish sharpener
Although I purchased this last year, due to circumstances, I did not use it until a couple of weeks ago.I completed on project , but half way through the second one yesterday it stopped working. I paid a lot of money for this item hoping it would last a long time (how wrong can a person be) My little Helix pencil sharpener which I purchased some 12 - 15 years ago is still going strong. Just doesn't sharpen anymore. Save your money buy a cheap electric pencil sharpener that will not cost so much to replace.

Best fine, sharp point
The media could not be loaded. Pro’s: I love this sharpener! Also a bonus that I can get replacement blades. Ive used many hand and crank sharpeners and the point i get on this swordfish in the time it takes, is just superior.Con’s:If a point breaks off inside (rare), it can be a bit difficult to get it out of the mechanism. Also, still need to apply some pressure to the pencil while holding it to be sharpener and some pencils turn easier than others. These issues are very minor though. This is by far my easiest to use and most used sharpener

Please stick with the Swordfish Ikon Manual Pencil Sharpener!
After having read the mixed reviews for this sharpener we decided to give it a go hoping that it would allow for faster, one-handed sharpening of pencils. Having used the Ikon manual sharpener for years and being very happy with it I hoped that this would be a good upgrade, mainly due to the fact that it could accept larger diameter pencils.Unfortunately, we are unable to get a level sharpening (please see uploaded image, where the pencil on the left has been sharpened by the Ikon sharpener and is perfectly symetrical (every pencil, perfect every time), the pencil on the right however, sharpened by the electric Swordfish Multipoint, has been sharpened unevenly, so much so, that half of the pencils that we have tried to sharpen in the Multipoint actually broke. Now these aren't cheap misused pencils, they're Luminance, Polychromos and Derwent Lightfast pencils. The Ikon sharpener never breaks pencil leads. We can't quite figure out how or why it continues to break leads. Due to the uneven nature of the sharpening it suggests that the machines design allows for pencils to be inserted into the mechanism off-centred, which does suggest a flaw in the design of the machine.A secondary issue is that the automatic cut-off does still allow for way more shavings to be taken off each pencil compared to the manual Icon machine, making the entire process of decent pencil ownership even dearer.Anyway, after a day of testing it was decided to return the machine and just stick with the Swordfish Ikon, which is by the way, highly reccomended.

Gives incredibly fine point on many brands of colored pencils
The swordfish sharpener enables me to get a very fine point very quickly on most pencils (including Luminance, Derwent lightfast, Museum Aquarelles...). It saves time and avoids broken tips that I often get with the manual sharpener. But when you use it, use a light touch to hold the pencil, since pressing too hard will get your pencil chewed up quickly. It is overall quite stable but does slowly move to the side as it grinds

Could be better
Not a bad item but certainly not as good as proclaimed.Jams easily and breaks off pencil leads. Helix difficult to replace as you have to take apart the whole unit. Was it worth £50+. No definitely not.Would I buy it again? NoDisappointed with it

Poor sharpener that stops working particularly for the money.
I ordered this sharpener looking at some of reviews and thinking for the higher price it maybe good quality.Sadly I was wrong. I am thoroughly disappointed. The first one I ordered lasted less than a week. I used the sharpener on a regular basis during a class room day but by no means overuse and I varied the type of pencils as recommended. It just stopped working whilst in use. I only used general colouring pencils and graphite writing/drawing pencils. I have not used it on softer art pencils which can clog. I had logged my sharpener using their warranty system. When I tried to contact them to get a replacement. I did not get any response back. The only option was to send it back via Amazon because it stopped working. A replacement sharpener was sent. It began sharpening pencils really quickly. It would stop working / cut out from time to time even when the pencil shaving drawer was not full. Approximately 2 weeks use, the sharpener was not sharpening pencils very well if at all. By now I was completely frustrated. This sharpener clearly is not up to the simple job of sharpening pencils. It is awful. I would not recommend buying this product. I think I will go back to the sharpener I was using. It is smaller and much cheaper, but it works!I will be sending the second Swordfish sharpener back as it does not sharpen my pencils, it is not fit for the purpose.

Stopped sharpening to a point after very little use.
Seldom used it although it sharpened to a fine point, it ate up a lot of the pastel pencil and now it’s not sharpening at all. Can’t send it back after a month after purchase date. ?? Surely I have more rights with electric devices?? Waste of money. Looking for a manual sharpener.
