ChessEbook boxed set Chess Draughts Backgammon 40 x 40 cm

All in all a gorgeous looking set. Almost perfect apart from two small things; 1: the pieces are a bit small, not so obvious on the chess pieces as much for the backgammon ones and 2: the backgammon side has some bits of wood in witch the pieces should fit centered to the model,only problem is on mine where not centered perfectly. Apart from this am very happy with it.

My 9YO decided she wanted to learn chess and after the wonderful "Queens Gambit" show I was also re-energized to get stuck in. We didn't have a family board, and in the past I've only played on those card based boards with plastic pieces.So I wanted to treat us to something that allowed a bit more nice looking,The pieces are wooden and nicely presented. Great in comparison to plastic sets. My only grumble is the weight. Again this is a really good set for the price, but the visual quality leads me to expect more for my money. The pieces are perfectly fine, felt bottomed and do a great job. When you look at them they seem like they should be heavier. Apparently this is a constant grumble of many sets in the chess word, and something that is very personal to players.The box opens nicely with a quality clasp. Hinges are covered which is good for playing backgammon. Inside the box will happily hold all the pieces which was important for us not to lose anything. The inside is finished in a lighter tone, but the tiger motif is a nice touch.The build of the box is good quality, but quite thin. From the pictures this looks like a nice solid heavy box. Don't get me wrong, it's definitely up to the job, and will take some punishment from my 9YO but remember you aren't paying hundreds here.It would have been lovely to see the pieces in a drawstring felt bag or similar rather than a zip lock bag. An easy upgrade though.So all in all, we are loving this set and it looks lovely folded away on the book shelf. I'm pretty certain that given a few dozen more games, my 9YO will be coming to get me! She's already thinking with tactics in mind. An evil genius in the making!If you do get the chance to buy a bigger set I'd recommend it. Many sets are 30-35cm. We bough the 40cm and I'd still say it could be bigger.

Great looking set and a nice tactile feel but....It's missing one of the black knight pieces. I want to contact the seller to see if they can simply send the missing piece but the Amazon app doesn't appear to allow me.

Because it is principally designed for backgammon the pieces are not stackable. Therefore these pieces are not suitable for playing DRAUGHTS., despite the set being advertised as such.
